Ill lend my knowledge:

I dont pvp much but in general pike hit 3 seems to do more damage than area 2 even though they supposedly have the same damage multiplier. It also stuns wich servers your purposes. other than that area 2 is a winner.

Pvp is my specialty. my toolbar goes as follow for pike moves. polearm lunge 1, polearm sweep 2, polearm area attack 2, polearm hit 3.
Dueling is my area of expertise. i suggest starting any duel with warcry, followed by 3 intimidates (that usualy sticks at least once) break it with area 2 until their dizy. I sugest you do a little homework on the state defences of different classes so you can decide weather to try lunge or sweep first. the once theyre down, our only viable attack is area 2 because all the others posture change and will bring them back up.

hope i could be of help

I'm pretty sure Hit3 is a 3.0x multiplier whereas Area2 is a 2.5x or 2.75x.

Basically Hit3 and Area2 render about half your arsenal of attacks obsolete once you get them. So things like Stun2, Spin2, Hit2, etc.. get rid of 'em.

Some people spam Hit2 on a Dizzy/KD'd opponent instead of Hit3 because it doesn't pop them back up. But that's really kinda pointless though since Area2 will, half the time, reapply the dizzy state if you spam it.. plus while I'm not sure about this I wager it does more damage than Hit2 anyway.

This goes for pvp AND pve.. I use similar tactics in pve as pvp, which works great and is good practice.

well for pve if ur example fighint 5 nighsister with each 30k ham, you can make some area 2 attack to make them dizzy and then make sweep 2 so they fall over and over, and use area 2 constant to keep dizzy

PvE = bleed 1-2 , leg hit 3, and hit 3....

PvP = area 2, hit 3, sweep 2, leg hit 3. . . . all my fire pikes, my rifles, and mind shot 3 and sniper shot..........

On regular PvE I usually open up with 2 intimidates or more as needed, then open up with area dizzy if NPC, if its high end, i usually will give up after about 4 or 5 swings (speed capped) if it doesnt stick. My way of thinking is, if you spend 20 hits trying to land a dizzy, it will take you that long to nail a KD, and by that time, they arent dizzy anymore. If the dizzy worked and KD, I usually hit area till they get back up, Hit3 is a posture change which will stand them back up if they are on there back so avoid it. If the kd dizzy dont work I just hit3 away while mixing in intimidates till dead. If super high end I try and stick some health dots on em, just to make it end slightly quicker.
