Thread: The Patch: A new day for a Pikeman?... or overlooked once more...

Well, this is it guys.

The patch. It could strenghten our march down the path or weaken our resolve while discouraging other potential pikes. I, for one, would hate to see this patch go by without progression in our profession (real progress). I would be happy with a reduction in HAM costs and a hike in accuracy. Unfortunately, SWG: Space expansion pack is right around the corner and I believe, once that comes out, we will be swept under the rug due to most of the attention going to that expansion.

So, SOE, patch well. You'll either equal the playing field or force us Pikeman to overcome unfair obstacles. Your neglect make us a dying breed. No matter what though, I will pike on!

Well, there are no planned improvements for pikeman specifically this time around. (Everything under * Polearm * in the Test Center notes was from last month)

We get damage mitigation, so we'll see how that pans out. It may be beneficial, it may be detrimental.
We get a to-hit bonus against ranged enemies, but we lose the 2.5x damage multiplier against riflemen/commandos.

The changes affecting us will affect everyone else as well. I'm looking forward to seeing the new dynamics from the CH changes, the mob upgrades (i.e. krayts, kimos, dark jedi, maybe nightsisters...) and the new combat changes.

'Foolish boy. Don't you know anything about Fantasia? It's the world of human fantasy. Every part, every creature of it, is a piece of the dreams and hopes of mankind. Therefor, it has no boundaries.'
'But why is Fantasia dying then?'
'Because people have begun to loose their hopes and forget their dreams. So the nothing grows stronger. It's the emptiness that's left. It's like a despair, destroying this world. And I have been trying to help it.'
'But why?'
'Because people who have no hopes are easy to control. And whoever has control has the power'

Doesn't SOE work on this project, not lucas arts? New weapons would be nice, if they didnt have the horrible modifiers on them like my LVA ...

I am never more nervous than when the "fix is coming'.

I've been a pikeman from day one, and seen many fixes go by. In general, we got hooped every single time. There were the odd concessions, but always to all melee, or all combat. If we had something going for us (anyone remember infinite KD?) it was taken away. All the strikes against us, just stayed. Weapons never got better, range...still hooped IMO, defense..., the list goes on.

Everytime we cross our fingers and our pikes, and hope for good things. I generally duck and cover and hope the patch goes by without me losing something else I'm fond of.

May the force be with you, is said often in this game. May the DEVs ignore you is probably a better way to go. On a rare instance, classes get fixed. more often they get nerfed. I like my long vibro axe. I would hate to log in and find it a short vibro axe, or that the lance is now a willow branch.

Don't be so proud of this technological terror you've created. The ability to destroy a planet is insignificant next to the power of the Force.

Haha, well they forgot us again .. I have yet to try the new HAM, but frankly i don't really care much, we didn't get a bit of attention from them, or at leeaastt a "hold your horses, Pikemen, we are working on it." Every patch rolls by, and we keep gettin made an ass of ourselves hoping they'l fix the simplest of things. *sigh*.. At least we're rare?

We gotdamage mitigation, so now the TKA will hit us with 10 points less in PvP. Good thing my pike does 50% less damage against them or else I could have ended up beein a threath to the TKAs. Oh yes, we got some nice new fading white trails after our swings with the blade.

Good thing we are working as intended

I did some quick calculations on average non-sliced melee weapons and how melee mitigation 3 affects them...

Percent reduction from mitigation 3 (approximate) -

VK: 46%
LVA: 43%
Vibro Blade: 42%
G Baton: 25%
Curved Sword: 34%
Stun Baton: 20%
Vibro Axe: 32%
Cleaver: 33%
Power Hammer: 43%

did u remember the +200 to unarmed damage TKA gets as an extra mod?

Doesn't matter, I think. That's a % reduction in the max damage value of the weapon. The +damage doesn't count toward the mitigation calculation.
