Pikeman Archive

I've gotten Brawling Polearms 4 before (since i mastered brawler) But have been dropping all but my unarmed tree. I'm thinking of taking up Pikeman after i finish Pistoleer. What weapon do you prefer to use to gain experience? When i was initially doing polearms 2/3 there weren't any Lances available on my server so i kept using my metal staff. Now that i dont need it apparently I grabbed a lance and besides the total lack of AP it looks pretty good. Especially the +11 ranged modifiers. Is it better to use than the LVA? I missed a lot with this thing (since by the time i had level 4 i had just come out to a total of -5 for all attacks! yay!). Do you use the lower damage weapons with better range modifiers and more reasonable HAM costs? I'm not certain how to go about becomeing a pikeman in terms of weapon selection and at the moment i dont have the skill points available to experiment.

You will save yourself 20-65% more headaches by sticking with the regular lance until novice, then using the VL until you have Support II or Support IIIbefore using the LVA. You can always get an LVA and try it out, I recommend doing so, but you'll see why it might be best to hold off on using it for a while. The accuracy is too much and you have no bonuses to mitigate that at the moment.

Thanks, i had tried the LVA while i was getting polearms 3 and 4 and although it seemed able to drop just about anything in a few hits (well reasonable things on Naboo anyway) i missed nightspiders with it repeatedly. Now i know I can indeed get good results.
