Hey guys and gals

Being the Pikeman correspondent has been a great experience so far I’ve worked hard to send as much information to the devs as possible about our top issues, and tried to get as much out of the devs as possible, and have actually gotten a few responses Unfortunately, due to the nature of the upcoming combat pass, there is very little that they are allowed to give us at this point in time.

One of the questions out there is what the devs plan on doing with our class’s issues before the combat pass. I’m sorry to say that they’re overloaded and can’t spare the time to fix our issues outside of the schedule. I do think that they are finally coming around and realizing that we are suffering, so even though we won’t be seeing changes tomorrow, I think we can all expect that they’ll be giving our profession a little more attention in the combat pass.

As you know, the top 5 responses had already been posted when I was appointed correspondent. I was disappointed that a few of the issues addressed were low-priority, but due to time constraints, I was unable to simply give a new top-5 issue list. I believe these were taken from Opeth’s State of the Profession, which is why the major issues of toughness/block were not addressed. I’ll be working overtime next month to make sure that our biggest problems get resolved.

Without further ado, let me give you what I know

1. Unbalanced developer attention.

There are some things in the works. Thunderheart will be able to better report these details after the first pass of the Top 5 process.

2 Pikemen, fencers, and swordsmen have NO UNIQUE SKILLS. TKAs and the ranged elites and hybrids all have unique abilities.

We hear you and will be working with Gunman21 over the next few months to make Pikeman unique.

3. Pikemen weapons need a pass.

Pikeman weapons will be receiving changes in January, if you have any suggestions, please give them to Gunman21.

4. Defenses don't work or aren't effective (including TC changes)

We’ll be taking a look at these issues, expect them to be fixed in the combat pass.

5. Area of Effect attacks don’t work.

This issue has been sent to the QA team for further investigation.

Outstanding. . . finally at last some communication.

IMO the biggestissue with our weapons is the accuracy mods and the high HAM costs.

1. Having more damage types would be nice. Our unique weapon does electricity damage but it's only AP1.As a rebel I would love something that did blast damage like the power hammerfor those nasty AT-ST's. . . or I could just become a swordsman.

2. The weapons in the brawler polearms discipline are too weak before the basic lance. Also the lance compared to other weapons of comparable caliber (two hand swords) is very weak without armor piercing.

3. With the exception of unarmed (which get nothing) fencers and swordsman get powerful weapons very early. We don't even get our first armor piercing weapon before polearms III yet swordsman get medium armor piercing right off the bat. I understand a wooden stick shouldn't have armor piercing but could the basic lance get an upgrade?

4. All weapons past novice brawler can only be made by weaponsmiths with the exception of the reinforced combat staff. This weapon is artisan made which means the quality isn't that great (because they are artisan grind quality off the bazaar). Could this weapon be changed to be more in line with the powerful weaponsmith made weapons given at one hand 1 and two hand 1 (sword, battle axe etc)?

If we are considered by many to be the damage dealers can we get some better armor piercing weapons?

I know I'm doing a lot of comparisons to swordsman but since our two professions are so similiar why can't our weapons be more powerful like their swords are.

I would like to see a master only weapon. One can use the weapon before master, but is only certified at master. Make it cool, like the force pike.

and ya, HAM cost blah, blah blah.

I agree with you on the Master only weapon, I think that would be great

One of the new Pikemen weapons should be the Double-bladed virbolance (Crimsion Empire I-II). That would be a great high level , maybe master only, weapon.

6 times 9 equals 42 (at least in Base 13 it does)

I will second this suggestion as a viable option for a potential master only weapon. I suggest for it to be over all less damage than the LVA, but definately quicker . . . much quicker.

Nothing really new... Same old "we'll look into it". Well we know that already, what are you going to DO about it? This isn't really a response, more like and acknowledgment of the problems that exist.

My issue would be that i want base damage for our pikes to target more action then health. Fencers bleed target health as do their default attack. I would like to see both pikeman and swordsman base attack (no-special) to focus on the ham that bleeds. I have gone through each melee profession pikeman being my last and 80 percent of all my hits are focused on the health making my bleed very ineffective. I somtimes kill mobs with my default before my bleed has even gotten them half way.

I also noticed that speed is a big issue with this profession more than with the others. True this is the only profession that can effectivly take on multiple MOB's at one time, but man it is very slow until master. I like the weapons, would ask for either a little more power than a 2h sword or speed up the pikes a bit.

My experiences are based not off PVP but more for MOB's

A new weapon isn't needed.

Fixing our current weapons and other issues is.
