Well... I am a master Pikeman by free will.. not many of us out there but we do exist.
I am not trying to defend the lack of attention we have received but what I have noticed that I am fairly good at andthat isperhaps what they thought of when they created the profession, is combat support in a way.
First of all I would like to say that this applies to PvE not PvP, and also only works against large numbers of enemies.... yay..........ahem......
I work with a group and charge in first acting the tank. I then do area dizzy + area kd, then I just stand there doing normal attacks while the rest of the group finish them of. Repeat if needed. (ok kd often dont work more than once but it happens once in a while)
Pretty boring but this is the only thing I can say that I am somewhat good at, so perhaps that is what they thought of....

hehe...I just spend like 40 min typing this in a reply to another thread...but accidently killed the browser window. lol....so I'll post it here as it's related.
When I started learning the pike, I was blown away by our cool moves, and I've always like the royal bodygaurds...did you know they were an actual society? with history and traditions?
anyways...at first it was hell. normal noob pike grinding...incaps upon incaps...but then I found out about buffs/muon gold, and food/drinks. after that...soloing piket missions became pretty easy....and the xp flowed.
my first few tastes of pvp shocked and infuriated me. I couldn't believe the devs would allow such a huge variance in combat abilities...and for the next week or so, I remained pissed at the devs.
But then one day, I remembered my experiences in other pvp games...how certain professions would always have other professions that are hard to beat, due to combat differences. (like a non-armor piercing fighting against full armor). I relate that to us...only that we have to steer clear of many professions, at least while solo.
I also found armor/clothing skill mods...and I realized that there might be ways to help my combat effectiveness. so I started buying every related skill mod I can find (still do)...and I also picked up ch, to take care of the ranged combatant problems...
and now, while I'll never proclaim us as top dogs...I'll say that we make excellent support roles, and definately help out in battles. Our Intimidates, and warcry...are excellent when used with a ranged ally's KD. (they kd, we warcry.....whack whack whack). versus pve...we're much more effecient too.
given this, I'd like to kindly suggest to the pike community to just accept where we are, and try to ease our bloodpressure a bit
I'm not saying to stop complaining to the devs....heck no. Lets keep our voices ringing, and maybe someday they'll hear us. But....lets just accept our current situation, and have some fun
I relate us to a classic sportscar, while we don't have the latest tech, or blingbling...we're still capable, and have a rich history we can be proud of, and should feel proud in what we are.
We aren't uselss.....so we shoudn't portray ourselves as such

No offense but its not "our warcry, our intimidate". The 2 abilities are owned by the brawler profession, has nothing to do with us, if all we can do in pvp is use brawler stuff its pretty sad lol

True, touching statement but those skills are brawler...The rushing in and grabbing the aggro of the entire heard of animals stampeading toward you blaster toting friends is fun tho
As well as yelling at your newer group members, 'if ya keep runnin round like that you will die, stand still so I can peel em'. Problem I have though is when you have another meele in your group. When ever there is another meele I feel that I'm breakin my damm balls and I picture the other guy, feet up on the desk, chillin, watchin tv, barely paying attention. And here I am poppin all types of drugs, centering left and right, praying that warcry sticks.

Oh, to add to that thought...Yea, when another meele is grouped with me I got envy...BUT MY STICK IS BIGGER...WTH is the problem...Dev's give us poor pike's a Therapist Class to help us with our fragile psyci.
