Reading the replies about the Corellian Corvette and the super battle droids (which have a weakness to electric damage) makes me wonder if pikeman will now have a surge in popularity. I've already heard several forks talking about mastering pike.

I'm only 3/0/0/2 and started pike about 3 weeks ago. Yep, I'm a slow grinder - no way I'm doing jedi. At least I am slightly ahead of the surge, maybe I'll get a lot of AP for training all the new folks.

There have already been surges of popularity. The first wave was made up of pure hologrinders, people who mastered the profession as quickly as possible and moved on. The second wave that is still going is more genuine. People are bored with whatever their current profession is and they've heard things about pikeman and have never tried it themselves (or they looted some DoT lance from a nightsister) and they pick it up. Some stay, some move on. I really doubt the Corvette will be a catalyst for a movement toward pikeman, the BH LLC does electricity as well, with better damage.

I agree with Antares. I personally am starting pikeman because I have yet to do a melee profession. Being a TKA or Swordsman was not for me because there are so many on my server. I like something with a little bit of challenge. So I may be a asset on the new corvette? Great! All the more reason for me to ENJOY grinding my way up to Master Pikeman.

I spot pikemen all over the place now (you really start to notice them when you're one too).

Personally, I ENJOY the fact that there is so few of us. Makes us seem special and unique.

Also I dont think there's going to be a surge for pikemen at all. If the weakness is electricity for the droids, there's a little known BH weapon called the Light Lightning Cannon

Thanks for the discussion. I guess I fall in the second boat of non-hologrinder looking for a challenge and to be different than the tks and swordsmen.

While I understand that LLC can put out some good damage, those BHs will need someone to stand in front of them and soak up the damage. But what it really comes down to is that it seems the corvette only gives out a new speeder, so why would someone change professions just for a new ride?

Plus, most of the NPCs in there have lower kinetic resists than electricity. They almost all have very blast or energy resists, much much lower than kinetic or electricity. This means swordsmen, commandos and riflemen shine overall the best in the Corvette.

k 2nights ago i was in the rebel base on corellia, and the only person around, i mean i used the search function in the options and it only came up with me and another full time master pikeman!

i admit i took up pikeman cuz a holo told me to the oneand olny holo i used i sold the others for cash. but i liked it so much i have stuvk with it its just plain fun to set your friends on fire and nt have to uses all your sp on comando to do it. plus as a master dancer i dont look stupid if i foorget to unequip my weapon while dancing.

I took pikeman becuase i've never done a melee class and its a fairly rare class. So far its been pretty fun. With decent comp armor and soem buffs i haven't had a problem yet. Hell, i was out soloing pickets with polearms 3
