Pikeman Archive

Well I've been a ranged guy for a good chunk now, so Im not up to the post CU melee game. Im a master Pike/ TKM 4000 Doc and my pal is a Master Swords/ TKM 0004 Doc. We did that so we could have good heals and buffs while playing together. We can tank the higher lvl enemies, but I seem to be there as a healer and nothing else. I can't really do much damage so Im mainly the keep the monster occupied while the swordsman kills it. Is that all we are? I can't seem to find a good pike for cheap due to my lack of funding. Should I change my build, maybe throw on my katarn knuckles and leave my pike at home. Please advise, Im getting that low sinking feeling.

Well, for starters, if you dont' like healing as much... Debuff.... Pikeman comes with many debuffs that lower the dmg of any mob that it hits. A buddy of mine, and myself have the same set up, (i'm the Pikeman) and we straight own.

You should start with an intemidate, he should start with armor break... Once the Armor Break hits, do a sweep. Then hit with a impale.. Mobs die, fast..

Now, if your fighting elite mobs. You will want to intemidate, stun, and dizzy to get that mob to hit for even less (almost 30% less total dmg) if there are no mobs behind your target (25m) hit him with a warcy. This one debuff will lower the output of mobs mobs by almost 50%.

Now, you talk about the damage you do, compaired to your swordsman buddy. You should look at the weapons your useing, and the weapons he is useing. From what I have seen, and made, the swordsman weapons have a smaller range between min , and max hits. This is HUGE.. most people overlook that minimum ammount.. BIG mistake!

Sense all hits are based apon the average dmg of your weapon, you want the highest min dmg you can find.

a weapon that is 300 - 900 is crap against a weapon that is 500 - 800. (test it yourself, you will do almost 10% more dmg with the second weapon per hit)

Being your MTK, you should look at doign the quest for the knuckles of the katarn. Pretty easy quest, dang good weapon!

Also, you could do the quest, for the kamodian staff... but its a very tough quest... you are requried to kill quite a few boss mobs, and i recommend being a 4444 or master pilot... (lots of flying)

You can find some Vibro Lances that are very good weapons, but the SAC cost hurts..

Heck, barehanded, you do quite good dmg, if your a master TK.
