if you really want the cm/pike combo for PvP i would get pikeman/doc 3.0.3.0/cm 1.0.0.4

But since pike defs are prett low (mainly toughness) you would benefit so much from geting beter dot pikes, ditch the cma dn get fencer 0.4.4.0 and the rest in doc, its the BEST pike template for PvP imo.

and i always thought pike had ok toughness. . . . . makes me mad how TK and fencer get more, when they are supposed to be the fast dodging guys, not the big tanks...............

TK and swordsman. Fencer's toughness isn't that much more than pike's.

Alright. Second try after first post got eaten...

I have just recently returned to SWG after a bit of a break. Before the CU I managed to convince my s/o to dump all her bio engs skills and grind up to master shipwright only to find out she could have just waited and used /respec.

Though thanks to my nonstop supply of level 1-2 stuff for her to RE she just got kuat disc 3 5 and 6 within 10 minutes last night - and 4 the night before

Anyways I'm currently a corsec pilot, 2332, working on 2333. In this mission, after a lengthy patrol, the ambush I'm supposed to lead turns into me being ambushed by a gunboat anda handful of escorts. Three times I've tried, three times I've gone down in flames. I have read all the posts regarding gunboats but none seem to address the issue of a gunboat that already has aggro on you and gets the drop on you. I can take out the rear gun in a couple passes, but while I'm doing that all the escorts eat me - or if I try to disable the escorts, the gunboat eats me. I currently fly two ships - a dune and a kimo, passing equipment back and forth between them.

my dune is my preffered, and is currently equipped as follows -

  • Reactor: 14.1k output, 8k mass

  • Engine: 2100 reactor drain, 13764 mass, 63.2 y/p/r, 79 speed

  • Shield: 3306 reactor drain, 6971 mass, 1034/1034 7.44 recharge

  • Front Armor 530/530, 3593 mass

  • Rear Armor: 746/820, 4759 mass

  • Capacitor: 1038 drain, 4046 mass, 930 energy, 41 recharge

  • Booster: 450 drain, 3055 mass, 2039 energy, 37.4 accel, 26.2 top speed

  • Droid Interface: 512 drain, 2187 mass

  • Weapon 1: 2398 drain 14181 mass 1542-2386 damage 26 energy / shot, 0.290 refire.

  • weapon 2: 2280 drain 14773 mass 1510-2335 damage, 26.4 energ/shot 0.280 refire.

  • Ordinance: 994 drain, 2374 mass concussion launcher - 2188-3014 damage missiles.

this leaves me with 77716 /83344 mass, 13081/14158 energy.

Any advice on what I should concentrate on upgrading, and advice on how to get past this blasted gunboat would be appreciated greatly.

Ourresources at the moment are pretty bad - else I could probably have better weapons, capacitor, and reactor. Can't afford the outrageous resource costs on Tarquinas, and I have horrible luckfinding enough level 5-7 equipment to have it RE'd.

What droid/flight comp programs do you use?

Oh and your shield looks a bit crap (though perhaps not for that level?)- try to get one made for you by a shippy or get some good RE-able stuff!

And your weapons, capacitor and reactor are more than capable too!

Right now I just have cap/shield shunt 2 and cap overload2. I haven't met any pilots of other factions to get cross class programming -- basically running with whatever I can provide myself.

- The shield was crafted (mark3 ) before the loving shipwrights got - will have to see if my local supplier can make me something better. I have yet to loot anything level 7 or below that's better, or enough to have them RE'd.

Thanks both of you! .. First thing I did was got the best shield my s/o could make for me (mark iv, 1750 front and rear) at the cost of putting in a slightly slower (34 instead of 37 accel) booster..

I made a stupid mistake half way through on this run, I cycled one gun too far on the gunboat when strafing it - but it worked out for me, ended up getting all its weapons disabled in three passes, from there it was easy to disable the escorts then kill them all at my leisure. of course my head long charge to finish off the gunboat left me with no front armor, but.. thanks for the advice.. now proudly a 2333 corsec pilot.

update: Well, found out why my front armor got chewed away once I sat down to poke at my ship a bit. I'd .. eh.. sort of forgotten to put my armor back in. I'd put some junky level 1 armor on the front by accident when I was loading..heh. now a proud 3333 pilot - sadly, the last mission for tier 3 was much easier than the second to last. still looking for imperials willing to program some chips for a cost

But a friend just started playing again after a long break, and just happens to be flying for the empire.. maybe if I beg enough once they get high enough... Thanks again for the advice, starting my credit grind so I can try to afford better resources than what my s/o's shipwright has, and try to throw together some new parts.

Remember to try to get some chips and get other people to program them - but remember they do damage - until you can go to DS and get free repairs that is!

You have the certs for lvl7 gear, you should have an L7 shield. SW stats havent been improved for shields yet, but using a shield a tier below your cert (mkIII when you can use mkIV) when trying to solo missions is suicide.

Here is my advice on your other parts:

Reactor: get a crafted lvl1 and overload it, save youself 7k mass.

Engine, get it RE'd if you can mass can be lowered to 9k-10k or so

Armor: looks heavy, but dump it and then have your s/o make armor to fit after you put everything else in.

Cap and booster are both good, actually really good.

DI you dont list the speed but this seems adequate

Ordinance- dont put it in until after everything else is in, but if you like missiles shoehorn them in.

The shield is the key, good L7 crafted shields have 500-900 more hp than you have, and much better recharge.
