Thread: Pikeman Concerns II!!!!
Oh yeah. That would be VERY cool. It would be more work to do the motion capture and all but when I started pikeman I envisioned twirling sticks and ultra cool looking combos. . now that I see it's not. . . sad
What are you talking about? Pikeman looks great when fighting who gives a crap about red tracers. I think the specials look ultra cool. I think polearmhit2 and polearmstun2 look great!
To get straight to the point, I feel that accuracy is the #1 biggest issue that should be focused on.
I think that except for the TKA profession, we deal out the most damage with a melee attack. In comparison to other fighting professions we are the slowest in trying to hit, at least as far as I can tell. Fine, I think we could live with that,IF we could actually hit the targets we are aiming for.
If we could reliably hit the targets we are trying to attack I feel many of the other legitamitegripes wouldlesson. HAM costs wouldn't be as big an issue asthey arenow because, as long as you can hit the target, it would be a choice as to whether you are willing to spend the HAM points to get the greater damage.
The whole PvP issue with guys with guns would be lessend because once you catch them, they die. Simple as that.
I feel that there are other gripes with the profession that need to be hammered out, such as....
Blocking - we Don't, and Should.
A profound lack of weapon options.
I personaly don't like the damage range on the weapons, I feel the minimums are too low.
Thanks for letting me blow off a little steam over the whole situation...![]()
Please I dont want the tracers, they have to be one of the worst things in there and probaly only cause the other classes specials are hard to see.
As for flashy looking moves we do spin a lot. Polearm hit 2 you even use your elbows, stun 2, you give a nice upper cut, spin attacks we spin then kick out. So as for not having cool moves I am not sure what you mean by that. If you watch your guy some times they will toss the weapon from hand to hand and attack, which I thought was pretty darn cool.
Concering accuracy - IMO if you are missing constantly with your pikeman character your not playing him rihgt. I can honestly say I have never had a problem with missing. Oh sure I have missed hits with my polearm but I have also missed while lvling TKA. If your missing 4 to 5 times in a row with a vibro lance, don't use a vibro lance, its obvious your character is not ready to use that weapon. I am master Pikeman and rarely if ever miss with my vibro weapons. Instead of getting mad and posting time and time again on the boards about accuracy just use a weapon you can hit with. You will be much happier and lvl much quicker. I didn't start using a vibro weapon until I reached Master Pikeman and I never had a problem with missing.Yeah,i know you that you don't think its fair to have to use just an old crapy lance but thats the way the class was designed. You can look cool (until you die from missing lol) and use your fancy vibro weapon or you can kick butt with a lance until your ready for your LVA or VL. I think the accuracy is just fine and would like to see changes that will affecet the pikeman proffesion in the long run such as HAM cost changes. I know that its a long hard road to Master Pikeman, I have been there, but once you reach Master thenumber of times you missed along the waywon't matter but the HAM costs are still there. Play smart! if you miss with a vibro weapon change, adapt, overcome. Just because you don't like something doesn't make it a bug.

1) I was thinking the other day, we are pikemen, we have the largest **edit** melee weapons in the game. We get rediuclous range modifiers... So heres what, why aren't we getting range? If I'm dueling a TKA at our max range which is what 7m or something? ( I dont' recall) The TKA can hit me at that range, which is of course total bs, I'd love to see someone punch a 5m distance... What I think would make us maybe more usefull, is having the TKA have a rnage of say a 1 meter. The Fencers (onehanded) have like 2. And so on and so forth. With my lance, I expect to have an attack of opportunity on that TKA as he is running up to smack me. They run up, we get a free shot off. What do you think? I think it'd be appropriate to add to the game.
2) Why haven't the resources been made available for hte high end weapons yet? My lance is the highest weapon available on my server, Bria. But it has no armor penetration. Yet my marksmen friends all have god **edit** weapons that have armor penetration. What is that!? I CANNOT gain XP when we go hunting...
3) It was explained to me that our best weapon, the Long Vibro Axe has about the same damage etc, as the T21. They are supposed to be comparable. Except, if I recall correctly the T21 is faster and as usual ranged. Sorry, but we don't get enough ranged defense to make this anywhere as even as it should be.

1. Berserk1/Berserk2 - This used to be our staple damage dealing abliity, and now it's barely useful. Does SOE understand that a flat +75 dmg bonus rewards weapon speed in a huge way - that is, lower damage and lower speed weapons? Berserk adds +75 base damage per second to someone swinging once every second, and +25 base damage per second to someone swinging once every 3 seconds. This is not advanced math. Berserk needs to be changed back to a multiplier instead of a flat bonus so that it scales across weapon speed and damage. The berserk change altered my avg dmg while zerked from around 715/swing to 470/swing. That's roughly a 33% decrease in damage output. Talk to a TKA or even a Fencer and find out how much their dmg output changed. I've heard from some TKA's that they do even more damage with zerk now. If the 2xbonus wastoo much then make it 1.5x. That would have been a flat 25% reduction in damage for everyone, not just a change thataffects once class of weaponsmore than any other.
2. Tanking ability - Currently, master elite brawlers, pikeman included, have no chance at tanking quite a few various types of creatures and NPCs in this game. This is due to the fact that we have virtually no functioningdefensive skills. Our ability to tank a mob in this game is almost solely decided by whether or not said mob can be knocked down. I don't care whether it's block, toughness, melee/ranged defense, etc, pick a stat, but make something work that makes us a defensive force to be reckoned with. At this point, pikeman and brawlers in general are a liability more than anything in endgame PVE due to the fact that we can't deal damage without making ourselves a target. CH pets are the real tanks and the melee players end up either hanging back and using secondary skills (if they have them) or dying a lot. Even with intimidate2, we still get the crap beat out of us on a regular basis.
3. Weapons - FIX OUR WEAPONS. This includes making the resources available for them on all servers. A pikeman is only as good as his weapon, and a lot of people are being held back by this lack of weapons. Give us more player craftable weapons. They're in the EU - force pikes and gaffi sticks (as opposed to batons) to name two. Make metal staffs craftable.Make the stats for our weapons make more sense. Give us longer range, fix the accuracy modifiers (those are either a bug or a design flaw), and make sure all the schematics for and leading up to our weapons work properly with experimentation and how their stats are applied in the crafting process. I'm sure the weaponsmiths can tell you all about that.
I don't see anything wrong with Pikeman PVP atm other than the lack of defensive skills, which I already talked about.
there is no such thing as tanking in this game. Tanking is suppose to involve a character to take hits, but in this case the only thing that can tank is a pet.
I believe if you " /jump " and then drop the item in question, it will make it on a higher point. I have seen people's houses where it looked like they had blasters mounted on their wall... I had planed to put all the polearm weapons up but the server went down... Also I am stranded in the middle of Lok ( I was on my way to the volcano). BTW does anyone know what is out there? I've always wanted to find out ![]()
Ok here are the issues going on the msg so far:
1) Accuracy!!!!
2) Block not working.
Anything else?
Khrim...
lol, almost forgot:
3) HAM costs... TO HIGH!!!
What else fellow pikeman?

First let me say, I currently have 6 boxes in my Pikeman tree completed, so I'm nota master, but I've certainly done myfair share ofplayinga Pikeman. For me the biggest concern is taking damage. We are a melee class so we have to be right next to a Mob to gain any exp in our profession. Yes, knockdown gives us a good move that allows us to fight some higher lvl MOBs, but what if the MOB can't be knocked down? There are plenty of MOBs out there that can easily kill me in one or 2 shots, so I am useless in a group hunting bigger MOBs, in fact I'm worse than that, I take up a space another rifleman, pistoleer, CH, ect could be taking. Why even have a Pikeman in the group, if one CH is worth 5 of us?
Example, I got invited by some friends to go to Lok, to do some hunting. I had the most boxes completed in my profession out of the group, so I should be a to hold my own.I ended up just sitting there doing absolutely nothing the whole time. The CH in our group just sent in his Rancor with 18k Ham, and then everyone else just sat back and pop-shotted the MOB to death. When I tried to run up and hit the MOB, it automatically aggroed me and killed me in 2 shots. So while everyone else was exclaiming how they earned 3k+ exp, I was running back to the group from the cloning center. And this happened until finally I just had to give up.
So please make us be able to take a hit, dodge a hit, or block a hit so I won't have to give up my Pikeman points to have fun at higher lvls in the game.

Silver, i know your going to be more specific when u send this to devs, i just want to reiterate that accuracy, isnt a problem in the sence that you dont have enough alltogether. Its more of the fact that you dont get any boost to accuracy soon enough, untill the second teir ofpole supportskill boxes. I think that you should say that the +accuracy skills should be more spread out. Some examples have been, +10 in every pole support box up to master pikemen, or +10 at novice pikemen up to master pole support, or my favorite, +10 at novice, starting at intermediate pole support going up, +5, +15, +5, +15 respectivly. Seeing as how u get a new attack skill in the first and third tiers, that is why there is a lower number there.
The other 2 issuesdeffinatly need to be looked at, however i think the the opposite order, 2.HAM costsand 3.Blocking. Blocking would be nice to have, but HAM costs are severly limiting the amount of damage us pikemen can do (and this may also be a problem with accuracy). Like i said in a erlier post, i have rarely ever seen my character attempt to block, but when he does, you would like it to work. (counter-attack too?)

To you who say you shouldnt be able to use vibro weapons untill master....Then whats thepoint of getting certification at a Brawler level (LVA) or at novice(VL)???

Inever that you shouldn't be able to use them. Maybe iwasn't clear in getting my point across so i'll try again. Don't complain about accuracy if your using a weapon you are not ready for. Pikeman accuracy is just fine once you hit master. If any changes are made to accuracy the skill mods should be more spread out, but i think they are fine the way they are. No one says you have to use a Vibro weapon. Its your choice if you wanna miss or not.
Things i would like to see changed:
1. HAM costs - I believe that they are to high on all of the special moves. If i didn't travel with two master doctors and have a good deal of medic myself Pikeman wouldn't be nearly as fun and tanking would be impossible
2. Make tanking possible in PvE by giving us more defense bonuses or by making block more effective
3.A greater varriety of weapons. I would like to see weapons that hit with different status effects or types of dmg. I also think race specific weapons sounds like a good idea. Mostly I would just like to see new styles. I really don't like the look of vibro weapons, and lets face we all play Pikeman becuase we thought it would look cool ![]()
4. The range mods on weapons are rediculous. This should definately be looked into./
5. Fix area attacks. It is my experience that area attacks really only deal dmg to a single nearby creature. The status effects seem to work fine but the dmg is not dispersed evenly. I would like this looked into.
Thanks X_silversurfer your doing a great job. Keep us the good work
