I think this goes with the fact that opeth posted on another thread that Ranged users have all the same moves we do, with a 65 meter range. We need some melee only moves.

Greetings once again fellow Pikeman,

There have been some good issues raised and Im pleased to see we can all discuss it out without too much mudslinging. Here are some of the things, in order, that I feel need to be addressed for this profession to work.

1. Class definition. I'll say that I definitely had trouble choosing a number one, but this one seems a bit more important to me right now for some reason. They need to start to individually define where each melee class should fit in, not all clumped together. For pikeman I believe this means crowd control, possibly defensive bonuses when engaged with multiple enemies. Its clear that they started along this thinking already, with two area effect attacks and an area knockdown, but they need to finish it. No one here in mind of surviving is going to use these moves in a white con group, but perhaps pvp chaos since that just boils down to constant clone revenge killing.

2. Weapon selection. I lumped a few issues into one by saying this: our high end weapons suck. No accuracy and high ham costs make it a game of russian roulette as someone else has previously said. Attacking a white or even a blue con can be extremely chansy, as you can't risk more than one or two special attacks, you're just forced to watch and hope for a good outcome. Ive missed four specials in a row before, might have been more but after that I had no choice but to stop or kill myself in the hope of an attack.

3. Defense. This partly falls into number one, but our toughness mod definitely needs to fall in line with the other classes. As it is we can't take a hit at all, and we need our defensive abilities need to work, blocking etc.

4. Special attack improvement. Others have brought up that our hit3 is only a multiplier of three versus four for other classes. True we get an additional status with that, but I and others feel that this isn't justification enough for the lower damage. This issue also emcompases how high you have to be to get the attacks. If I had the same number of boxes filled in rifles, I would have two different bleeds that I could stack, compared to one only in pike. We need to have this looked at to make sure there is fairness across the board, even if the attacks themselves are different.

5. Posture. This one is only a small thing in comparison to what I could think of up above, but our posture needs to be changed. Standing around with a huge pole sticking out is a bit rude of us and not very realistic by any means. Look at real life at ease positions with a polearm and you'll find that most people will hold it straight up and down, like a third leg almost. I feel this would add a little dignity to our class, which right now we certainly do need. And, on a lesser note, can't we hold the weapon in the other hand for a salute? I wonder how I still have a head when I salute with the weapon in hand.

Side note: This isnt a problem per se, but I thought I'd throw it in since I have a few people's attention. There should be an elite-elite profession for pikeman and creature mounts as guards or something like it... Police the world over have long used horse mounted officers as crowd control "tools" and adding a pike to this only increases the effectiveness to control a crowd. There is precedent for this in star wars as well, notice cptn tarpals in the phantom menace.

Just a few thoughts... Hope some of you managed to wade through it
