Thread: Next Week's Question
I would like to ask a question regarding our skills in the upcoming CB. Something like that...
Few months ago developers started threads about our visions of every single combat profession. These thread were supposed to be looked at and the profession would be changed based on what the subscribers wrote there. Then the Combat Balance was passed to an unknown date and these threads dissaperaed. Many of the writers in the Pikeman thread suggested a BIG change - sort of Commando like Pikeman. To sum it up - we actually fight with 2 very different weapons. Both Lance and Staff are used very differently in a combat and each of them need a different training. The proposed change was to give the Pikeman 2 different playing styles - one mainly based on speed and defense (Staff) and the second based on the offense (Lance). This can be achieved with 2 different skilltrees - one specialized on the Staff and the second on the Lance.
My question(s) is(are) - is this even possible (with the current or future skill mods) and/or do you plan something like that for Pikeman in the CB?
I say we do ask about Block, its a huge problem of imbalance for us compared to other melee...
We have been told before that Block is working as intended, however after running numbers(link antares post here) you can see a huge imbalance compared to other melee. Is this what you mean by block is working as intended, a gross imbalance compared to other Professions? And what if any changes can we expect to see reguard combatbalance and Block?
As an alternative, how about something like this?
In recent publishes, we've seen many new weapons and enhancements added to other professions. Pistoleers have gotten the Geonosian Sonic Blaster, Featherweight FWG5, and Modified Republic Blaster. Riflemen have gotten the Disruptor Rifle and Berserker Rifle. Swordsmen have gotten the Scythe and are about to get the Executioner's Hack. Even "unarmed" TKAs are about to get the Black Sun Razor Knucklers.
On the other end of the spectrum, Carbineers have only gotten the Enhanced E11 Carbine, which is an unimpressive upgrade to the normal E11. Fencers have received nothing, but do at least have new Acklay bones to greatly enhance their weapons. Pikemen, who already have the fewest unique weapons of any combat class besides unarmed, have received nothing.
It seems odd that some professions which are already working well are being given multiple new weapons while traditionally "broken" combat professions receive nothing. What plans are in the works to add unique new weapons for the classes that have so far been ignored?
Not that I honestly think we'll get a satisfying answer from that, but it beats color trails.
Do you think we stand any chance at all of getting more specific details about what the combat balance will entail for pikemen, or is "the combat pass will address this" about the most specific we can hope for? There's really not much we can ask that matters if that's the best we can get.

You mean to say "We were actually the first ones to receive a new weapon although it is nearly impossible to get and is extremely under powered, theenergy lance.
What is the Development team’s vision for Pikeman with the upcoming combat system overhaul?
Get them to give us an idea of what to expect so we can discuss the merits of the dev's vision

If we do end up asking about color trails, could we at least add a disclaimer that we're only doing it because we tried to come up with a question that isn't going to be answered by the combat balance? The last thing we need is to give the impression that our main concerns are cosmetic. I still remember the laughter that ensued way back when pistoleers asked questions about holsters and gun twirling. Better to get a non-answer about a real problem than a real answer about a non-problem.

We were actually the first ones to receive a new weapon, the energy lance.
