but surely if you go into PvE without buffs, be it Doc buffs, Entertainer buff, food, drink or spices, you choice of NPC enemy is going to be limited, thus your xp is going to be accrued so slowly, give into the buffside!make the most of them before they get nerfed like everything else!

I'm about to begin trying to get novice pikeman. I think i will go the unbuffed route. Mainly because sometimes i don't have three hours to play the game in a row. And if i don't grind for all three of those hours i feel like i'm wasting my money (i know, i'm not really but i do feel like i'm not getting my money's worth). Besides, it'll free me up to do slicing whenever i want.

I made master pikeman before high resist ubese, before high resist composite, before doc buffs, before defense bonuses, before great food, before accuracy fixes, before top-quality weapons or loot. I had crates of stims and used them all the time. It was difficult and frustrating sometimes, but it was nice to make it at last. Everything is easy with buffs and super armor (which I love and use to my advantage all the time, but still...), trying to do the same things without is a challenge to be sure. I don't think I would go so far as to say it's "fine" though.

You forgot to mention that for a while you could also spam kd and get xp pretty easy doing that, but it didn't last long before they nerfed it. Another thing you guys don't have to pay for your training, if i wanted free training I had to hope either ark or antares were on.
