hummm... I think the problem is that creatures with resistance to electricity often also has a high resistance to kinetic. Thus we noticing the lack of damagetypes more often than others. SwordsMen and Fencers have kientic/blast and kinetic/stun... we need something in that combination too, or they need to just update some of the creatures.. make it useful to change from an LVA to an VL

i dig the fire idea....but i have sence given up on trying to sugest or bring attition to pikemen....

we ahould be happy we got help for our ranges....even thoe a TKM's arm is longer than our poles...

Hrm, we need a heat damage weapon, maybe a cold one, throw some acid in the mix, restraint sounded ok, maybe something with a blast effect? A weapon that has two types of damage depending on which end strikes? Anything else for the shopping list guys? Coffee anyone?

NO, NO, NO! You've got it all wrong.


We need one uber weapon that does all these. Something like one of those multi-coloured pens you used to have in school. You know, the ones where you would push down the one button and one colour would come out, push down the next button for a different one.


We could have this on our pike. Hit the button and switch between heat, cold, acid and restraint. Or maybe switch the heat with blast as not many things are resistant to blast.


This way we could be sure that no matter what the mob, we have the right weapon.

For the vast majority of the playerbase that doesn't PvP (gasp yes it's true ) how would a stun weapon help me.


Personally I'd like a blast damage weapon. Some of the games high end mobs are more vunerable to that than kinetic and electricity. I also would like to see the VL upgraded to AP2.

I agree 100%, it would make the weapon so much more useful. Now I only bring it out if thetarget is 80-100% kinetic and below 30-40% electricity, but sometimes not even then

Ok, first off... restraint damage is for Jedi Force Choke damage. So, I doubt if we get a Jedi Force Choke Pike. That's just my opinion though.


Secondly, I agree that our limited choice in damage types is a hinderence. I am also a master rifleman. With rifle, we have5 energy rifles (DLT20, Laser Rifle, Tuskan Rifle, E11Rifleand the T-21), 1 cold rifle (SG whatever), 1 stun rifle (Jawa Rifle) and now an acid rifle (the DXR6 disruptor rifle - new in the genosian cave).


So, maybe having another type of damage pike isn't asking for too much.


Well, but then again, how many of us pikemen don't havea DOT pike of some sort.

All ranged professions have a ton of damage types compared to melee.


The melee professions basically have 2. Kinetic and something else.


Maybe new weapons will appear that'll change that in the oh so magical combat revamp


ooohhhhh I get chills just saying that. . . combat revamp. . . it just rolls off the tongue. . . combat revamp


Anyway the devs basically keep saying that new weapons are coming so maybe we'll get some more. One can dream. . . .


The problem is our VL isn't up to snuff. It's only AP1 and it does electricity damage. Have you been to swgcreatures.com and seen the heavy hitters in the game. How many have high kinetic resists and electricy resists. That's why I'd love a blast weapon. Man tons of mobs have blast vunerabilities. Of course I could be a swordsman but I'd rather be a pikeman.


I say upgrade the VL to AP2 and that would be a good start.

Having been a Master Pistoleer first, I guess I was spoiled by being able to use so many forms of damage. Since, I decided to become a Pikeman,it has been a really good time. But, one noticeable difference was my lack ofdamage type choices.Heck, I even had a very nice Striker pistol for doing Kinetic damage at 30+ meters effectively.


Maybe soon weaponsmiths will be able to add the type of damage to a certain weapon, somewhat like armorsmiths choosing to add protection from certain damage (i.e. layers). It's just a thought.....

I think that we, as pikeman, need to stop trying to get the devs to notice us. We are buy far the most useful pvp melee prof. Tka = laff simply due to 90% armor. Fencers are only good if they have one of the new 500 dmg acklay stun batons. and those are the people you let cm's take care of. Swordsman are a joke in pvp. Honestly other than cm. There are not too many profs that cant hit sumone twice, run away, and own them. Pikeman has the best loot, period. This is sumthing we should all be counting our blessings about.

Another thing to mention.....


It's really hard to take PVP seriously as a fencer. Sure, we don't get hit MUCH, but we do get it. Also, mentioning a stun baton is like mentioning our wood staff. It's hard to take a stun baton seriously when it's AP0, and a MAX of about 160 damage. OH, and most people on my server are getting stun resist armor just to use against fencers. We're screwed. Even if it's 1% stun resistant, we're doing no damage at all. Oh yeah, and NO knockdowns.


Unless you're one of the few people who can loot Acklay bones (there's only46 spawnings a day, and figure maybe half drop bones). That also insinuates that you'll be the only one there to kill/loot the acklay, and let me tell you something: As a fencer, the geonosis cave is HELL. Everything is AR2 and 60% kinetic resist. Think about the damage fencers are doing there. Our highest AP damage is AP1 with a theoretical max of 200 damage with the best slice. Now figure in the kinetic resists. Oh yeah, and those beasties are also 30+% stun resistant too.


To even get an AP2 weapon has been a godsend for me, even if I do hit 50% of the time. To make it a 500 max damage weapon on top of that? At novice pikeman I was hitting for more damage than I was with 1 hand hit 3 (master fencer) on any type of mob. And wait, we also have a different type of damage that's AP1 and has about 450 max damage? I'm in heaven. Once I hit the speed cap, I'm expecting to be in love with this profession.


Of course, I also have to mention I'm trying to get in on this profession NOW, in the hopes they improve it. Who knows, maybe it will be something amazing when all is said & done. They're in the process of fixing carbineer, so watch out for tons of carbineers in the future. The attacks look insane. AOE KD, dizzy, stun, ect ect. All from 64m away. I'm betting pikeman will get something along this line of improvement somewhere in the near future.
