"in polearm you get less toughness than the other skills. I know this has been brought up officially already and they are looking into it, but its something that should be fixed or changed."


We get less toughness because we have better, stronger attacks. You can get more toughness by using skill enhancers. As far as I'm aware there is no skill enhancer that gives fencers area knockdown.


About the inability to dabble as brawler: My current plan is Master pike, Master brawler, novice scout with 3 explore, novice medic with 4/0/4/0, novice swordsman with 0/0/4/0, and novice TKA with 0/0/0/4. Melee dabbling ends up being quite effective. And if the combat xp in TKA is too intimidating (though I'll get it without ever touching a VK), you could also get fencer footwork branch instead for the insane posture and knockdown defense (not to mention the dodging).


72 melee def, 60 ranged def, 25 block, 15 counterattack, awesome de-buff defenses...think about it.

The combat window is not descriptive enough. Make it tell us when damage (to ourselves and to our enemies) is decreased due to resistances, ranged/melee defense, and toughness. Make it also show the correct final damage dealt, not the damage before resists and armor level are calculated.


Perhaps give the option to toggle brief or verbose combat window so players can choose between a spammy informative window or a less spammy, but less detailed version.


Another annoyance: if an enemy has a damage type vulnerability, armor class should always be zero when attacked by that damage type. It makes no sensewhen something is "vulnerable" toa damage typebut still reduces that damage by 50 or75%.

I'd like to see pikeman with some sort of bleed hit.


I'm not a master so I'm not sure if we have one of these already, so im sorry if im wrong.


But, the LVA has a blade on it....and it would make sense that when we hit the enemy, they bleed from that wound inflicted by the blade.

In beta all brawler lines only got +4/+4 toughness - after melee characters complained that we took too much damage they increased the other three to +10/+10.


Patch notes at the time didn't mention anything about polearm line not getting an increase because they hit harder (and wether pikemen have more DPS than fencers, swordsmen or TKAs it debatable anyway)..


Regardless though, it was mentioned in the first correspondant report and got a "we'll look into it" response, so not worth raising with them again already

Another pikeman concern is, once the 30 sec timer on knockdown (KD) goes live. We're sitting ducks for ranged players since we already cant hit efficiently while on the run and 1 knockdown on a target wont be enough to kill them unless they r a rifleman. Time to drop pikeman and join the bounty hunter band wagon i guess. Another concern is without repeatitive knockdowns, we wont be able to take on tougher mobs ---> xp problem for us. GG SOE

one thing i have found is that i always kill things by takeing the HEALTH bar down to 0, if we are supposed to do so much dammage to action then how come we do the same 60%/30%/10% dammagesplit that all other classes do? i can go and hit a nym with action hit 1 and 2 and for about 1k and 500 respectilvy and still end up killing it with with health dammage. basicly it would ben nice if the split went 30%/60%/10% for pikeman or even differently, maybe all classes should have a split that would go like 30%/40%/30% with the 40 mod at whatever your weapons special dammage is.


i know this may make me a bit less usefull when grouping with anything other than a pikeman or carbiner but i would happily trade it if i could solo a bit better by putting my special moves to better use.


as it is now i normaly dont bother with useing my bleeds or leghits because they rarely help me win a fight, and with the HAM cost being so high on our weapons i rarely use anything other than knockdown when attacking anything.

Just a couple thoughts, possibly from a real world standpoint as well and reflecting on some of the proposals made.



1) Are you saying that I cant take a big stick and whack you in the knee every 5 seconds so you'll stay on the ground? That makes no sense no matter what galaxy you're in. Quit nerfing our moves just because some gun weilding bounty hunter complains. (Just a guess there not meanin to offend the gun weilders per say)



2) -60 to hit ? Well hey we do get +110 accuracy at master pikeman and we dont really need a novice pikeman comin in with our best weapon and showin up the masters do we? I'm sure with +110 you masters hit regularily.



3) HAM bars, well they are a little high but hey I got a VL custom made at 38/60/18 and damage is still over 200 and I can hit with it regularily with Adv Support.



4) PvP ? Well hey the galaxy is built around technology and thats why pikemen dont rule the galaxy. We look good and defend our groups as they blast things. Its impressive watchin guys 2m away with their guns at someones head cause his knees are bruised by my crushing blows. Besides when is the last time you seen a pikeman takin out an AT ST? As for chasing down gunmen, does carrying a stick make you any faster in the real world? Does it make you sneak around easier? Nah. Gonna be funny tryin to chase down a guy sittin in a landspeeder hehe.



5) Brawler Advanced Professions ? Well hey -->bar fighter,alcoholic, sprinter. World is still based on technology and besides what more does a master pikemanneed?



Just some thoughts, its a game, they all have rules, why not try some new things if the old ones arent workin instead of changin the system everyday. Let them fix those **edit** quests instead hehe.

Yea I'd like the ham cost from LVA/VL to drain mainly from one stat instead of 2 (hp and action). When u compare it to swordsman weapons u'll see the difference :

Melee weapons in general should have EXTREMELY low mind use. I don't mind the HAM cost for action and health even when they go up into the triple digits; this is a physical class, we should not have mind cost into the 40's, it should be in the teens on all weapons.

only way i can kill is knockdown against mobs really because high end mobs hit to hard . i already gave up on pvp because all we do is miss are targets while running after them im neutral now.


so what are u leaving us with this stupid timer thing on knockdownim hearing guess its time to hope EQ2 comes out earlier melee is going down the tubes

i got to write this please listen these pvp whiners are gonna ruinour high end game. I dont pvp (misses way to much to be fun chasing shooters)but knockdown is a must for high end gaming against npc's. so how long am i gonna last now ,melee pikersalreadyhave tobe master medics just to survive almost.



lol guess pikeman are expected to go doctor also

1. High HAM costs of special moves, with a LVA I'm losing around 160 action points per move. This is really crappy in PvP.


2. Action hit 1 and 2 don't wound like they are supposed to, they only bleed, I'd rather have the wounds than the bleeds.


3. Our weapons are inaccurate as hell, -50 no matter what with an LVA even if you are a master you have a chance of missing 50% of the time.


4. Dizzy and stun almost NEVER works on NPC's, so whats the point of having them?

A scythe is a polearm type weapon yet it is in the 2H sword skill tree. It is in the Master 2H brawler box along with two-handed cleaver, yet in the master polearm brawler box there is no cert for any weapon. And in 1H sword there is 1 cert, I think the scythe cert was put in the wrong box, it seems just logical that the scythe would be a polearm weapon and that each of the brawler profs that use a weapon would each get one cert at the master level.
