Thread: State of the profession version 2!
Yes, excellent. Now let's hope one DEV who's going to the CH forum accidently clicks on this forum and sees it.

As for the AT-STs, I can solo krayts (with effort) by bleeding them (nevermind the constant stim/food/CoB/intimidate/warcry/KD usage), so I assume since AT-STs have the same armor, almost the same resists, less HAM and hit for less, they would be doable in the same manner, but only with very good blast-resist composite armor - no melee defenses or toughness would apply. Swordsmen can solo AT-STs without bleeds because they have a blast damage weapon. And I think the dizzy+KD sticks better on the AT-STs if I'm not mistaken, making them even easier. A pikeman could only do it by bleeding, but I don't doubt it's possible.

Pikemen don't suck, the problem is that alot of players don't play that proffession so there is not alot of information sharing abouttactics, weapons, and combos with other proffessions to maximize its potential. The reason for this is that this proffession is not very attractive for the player, due to the fact that it doesn't look very Star Wars to begin with, the proffessions weapons look like lumbering axes and drain pipes. Although the sword proffessions also have this problem, it's not as ridiculous. You think Pikeman proffession sucks?! You should play in Tempest for a while and hang around Imperial Outpostor Bestine for a jaw dropping revelation. A rebel Pikeman soloing 2 At-Sts without much of a hassle, 1 At-St is just laughable, they are instantly knocked down and cannot get up long enough for the Pikeman to switch between targets and keep both At-Sts on the ground throughout the whole fight. I know this sounds like BS but before flaming, make a character in Tempest and ask around Imperial Outpost or Bestine, you'llsee that it's true. Yes this is obviously an exploit, however it proves how much untapped potential there is in this proffession that people simply don't know about due to the small amount of players that play it.

I've never actually gone after an ATST and tried to kill it off, mostly I end up running the best I can to get away.. could you elaborate on how you take one of these badboys down please?
But, I was trying to compare it to a krayt: both have heavy armor, the AT-ST has some higher resists, but less HAM (19k vs. 30k) and hits regularly for 1k-1.5k vs the krayt's ability to hit for 2k+. So, if you can take a krayt, then you arguably should be able to take an AT-ST, I'm thinking. Only with high blast-resist composite because the AT-ST is ranged only, our toughness (ha!) would not come into play. I can't say I've ever seen an AT-ST knocked down, though, so I wonder about that part of the story. Also, coming up in the next patch, all DoT except fire are ineffective against the AT-ST, totally destroying any hope a pikeman, including this guy who is supposedly doing this, would have to solo an AT-ST. (high kinetic resists, 55k HAM, no bleed...)
As it should be, silly rebels.

AT-ST's can be knocked down. I used to solo them quite frequently before the Pistoleer KD nerf back in the day. MCH/Master Pistoleer would take me about 20 minutes or more to kill one. Of course, my weapons back then didn't even come close to comparing to the uber pistols our guild crafter is making now. Less than 1 second spd 100+ - 300+ republic blasters rock
.
Our bleeds really are strong: I was killing some giant canyon krayts yesterday when a master pistoleer with 3 AT-STs and a doc and a smuggler came up and jumped in for the next spawns. I ran up and bled them, and each time the krayts died their action pool only had about 1-2k left. Not bad, I'd say, nearly outdamaging a few AT-STs and 3 players...of course, with a commando there, it's no contest. It's so much fun running up and getting right in the krayt's face while the ranged guys hide behind their pets or AT-STs, even better when you KD one.
May the sunburns never run dry.
