Thread: Why are you Pikeman?
I'm also a TKM and I've done that profession 3 times all in different stages of the game, starting in June of last year. TKM owns for low-mid level pve. thats it, The TKM you talked with is a newbie kid who doesn't know his @$$ from a hole in the ground. In the Geo cave, DWB or corvette, I never use my TKM skills, its all about Master Pike. TKM also sucks in pvp and is a huge waste of skill points. Anyone who is Into pvp know there are a few templates that are a must. CM / Rifleman Doc / CM Fencer / CM anything else is just support.
I became a Pikeman because there are so few, you stand out from the crowd of followers. Infact the only reason I have TK at all is because it was my first mastered profession and I was the 5th to Make master on my main server. You'll never see me with a TK tital above my head, becuase its embarising, 45 TK on search when I was in Coronet.
^^^^^^^ pikeman for all the wrong reasons I see
I chose pikeman because:
our moves are the best I've seen
it's cool to swing that huge LVA around like it's made of plastic (it could as well be, at the rate I go through them
)
our weapons look cool
we don't rely on spamming the same attack over and over again like other professions
we need to think when we fight
and best of all --> watching 30 ewoks get dizzied and knockdowned at once (this was great
)
I don't use DOT's,I don't wear armor and I hardly ever use buffs, still I can take most things IFI'm carefull. (Don't attack any NS this way unless they're initiates
, you'll die fast)
Good answers you all,finally some good stuff about Pikeman comes in to the light. I went Pikeman cause of this: Lando with his LVA!!! At the very first sight of that weapon in the movies,I thought it was very cool. I also went Pike cause of all the DOTs,and its supreme in PvE (ranger).
And..Ofcourse.. LOTR.TheReturnOfTheKing;The Final Battle...
(orch voice) Pikes first,uuuuarrrgh!
Why am I a Pikeman?
I chose to become a Pikeman for two reasons.
I the middle of September a friend and myself decided to become Master Bounty Hunters, but with the low amount of Investigation experience you would get back in the September-October time frame we decided to choose something else because it would be a waste of time and become very boring chasing NPCs all over the galaxy.
In November we were still undecided what we wanted to become and had heard the Devs had added the holocrons in the game to hint towards the way to become a Jedi. We both decided that we would become Jedi and found our first holocrons at the Imperial Base south of Lake Retreat on Naboo. Both of our first holocrons told us to Master Droid Engineer. I said I would master it and my friend decided she would re-roll her character because there was no way she was going to master a crafting profession.
By the time we had found her new character a holocron I was halfway done with Droid-Engineer when her second character was told to become a Master Combat Medic. Finally a profession she would master without having to do a lot of crafting. So during the times we were both logged in I was standing in the Coronet Cantina tumbling like a mad man while she was healing me for medical experience.
Now we are in mid December when I cracked open my second evil talking box and hear that I have to become a Master Bio-Engineer. I told myself you have just sat through mastering Droid Engineer and there is no way in hell I am going to sit through Bio-Engineer. About three days later my friend finally finished off the crafting portion of Combat Medic and opened her second holocron. It told her to become a Master Architect, to which she swiftly replied "HELL NO!"
A few days passed and I could still hear the voice of the evil blue box in my head telling me become a Master Bio-Engineer. I finally gave in and mastered that long and boring profession. A few weeks pass and I am just finishing my ninth profession. I have another blue box sitting in my hand and was praying for it to keep it's evil mouth shut. Aftercracking open the box I quickly heard that voice echoing in my head to become a Master Medic. So I made a deal with a Jedi that I knew and for the price of a pearl she tumbled for me in the Cantina for 30 minutes to allow me to master my fourth holocron profession.
Here we sit, it is now June and I have just become a Master Carbineer, which happens to be my 19th profession. I have decided to admit my defeat and start having the fun that my friend would constantly talk about being a TKM/Pikeman. So now I start down the road of becoming a Master Brawler/Swordsman/Pikeman with a pinch of Teras Kasi and a very small hint of medic to keep us alive while we are hunting Rancor or killing the terrorist Rebel scum that plaque the galaxy.
I'm a swordsman by trade and i like using all the neat sticks i get from the sisters =)
