Trolling???
Trolling???
Your comment about simply "not doing it" is only half valid. You would still have to acquire the skill (even worse, an entire skill tree), wasting skill points doing so. So this makes it more than an issuue of simply "not doing it."
I don't want to have to be a CH. I don't want to have to have a mount out when using a speeder is much faster.
Have you tried fighting on a mount? I tried it out with a friend once to see what it might be like. It's incredibly awkward to move around and fight. You've seen the turning radius on the mounts/vehicles? Mobility is low, "out of range" issues are extreme and ever-present. All one would have to do is KD the mount and you're off and cannot get back on, rendering all your mounted combat skills null and void for the rest of the fight, which would make you wish you had something else in that skill box instead.
I am very much opposed to the idea.

So give novice pikeman the ability to use specials when mounted. No extra boxes used.
Give master pikeman a charge type skill.
Doesn't take a promethian act of forethought to work it out without having to use an extra tree or even require that it be done at all.

But do you honestly think the devs would give an additional skill (albeit one I also see as useless) without taking something else away? The quest for "balance" would include mounted combat only at the expense of non-mounted combat, which is the last thing we need.

Well, the general consensus seems to be that pikemen need a little boost anyway (reduced HAM cost for specials would be one of the most obvious upgrades).
I, for one, would drop my armorsmith and take up pikeman full time if I could fight mounted and actually use a lance to some real effect. Armor leaks, stat shifting PSGs/RIS/Tantel and the plethora of ther bugs in armor are driving me batty as is. The idea of fighting mounted would be a lot of fun, for me at least. I know there are others that feel the same way.
For those that don't want to, I can respect that too. If everyone wanted exactly the same thing, the game would be pretty dull because we would only have to have one class to play.

Again, step back and consider the practicality and implementation of it. It's not an easy thing to do, fighting melee while mounted (see all my in-game comments from experience above), the practicality of having to have your mount as an extra accessory. What real benefits do you envision this actually having? And what about annelid0's comment: they wouldn't give us this ability for nothing.

I m just thinking here now, but how 'bout just deleting the spinattack(which I kinda never found any real use foranyways..) and make a new skill: Jousting? This skill could say be used while mounting a vehicle(or a stupid kaadu...), and workas a one hit attack; in which I mean you get a certain % chance to hit and it's a one-hit-inapacitation-blow? Would be cool, but hey.. I can understand those who don't want to manoeuvre around on a kaadu

Personally, I liek the idea of mounted combat. But, it seems the community is split 50/50 on the matter so I haven't pushed it to the devs in a while.
What we need is something to make us unique. (I think that's what you were trying to get with mounted combat?
)A special, ability, modifier, something that's significant enough to notice and both fun and usefull.
I think the best suggestion so far is to make our profession dynamic. If we have X weapon equipped, we get attack bonuses. If we have Y weapon equipped, we get defensive bonuses. While this isn't noticible visualy, those in the profession would enjoy having the option to change the pace of the profession by simply changing weapons.
So far I think that's been the best suggestion.

What every week now we get a mounted combat thread?...
Well once agian I say no.
It is kinda a cool idea, but, if we were to get special mounted combat features, then the Devs would without a doubt have to take away other things we have so that = bad.
NO Mounted Comabt...besides instead of people going "wow your moves are totaly uber looking..." it would be more like "dude you look like an idot on that mount get off it and swing and miss at me like a man...."

im torn on it.......it would defenitly be unique....the only reasion i would say no is becouse i know that the devs would **edit** it up horebly....for one...rember a TKA's arm reaches farther than out 15m poles....so they would have to rase that ...and they cant do that becouse we all know the TKA'sare under the desk.....errr.....heh........they would **edit** alot...yeah thats it.
but if they could do it right....it would be cool....but i think it would just piss many others off and you know how this game is orented tword winers....

hey, if we get mounted combat we could have the motto(kinda ripped off from Fencer..):
"Joust if you're a pikeMan!"
eh, eh?

I agree with that. I've seen the division in the weapons for a while and like the idea of having different styles based on the weapons. Staff-fighting is different from pike-fighting (is different from staph-fighting).

No mounted combat
Not for Rangers (it's actually on the wishlist for em), for for Pikemen, not for any profession. It's pointless.
It's like Communism, it sounds good on paper, but it won't work.
