I wish I was exploited.

somebody should report this as a bug, people could start exploiting their master pikeMan profession to lvl other ones faster than normal. Only one thing worse than a broken pikeMan, an exploited one

That would be me.

I use any trick I can to gain xp in other professions including the cob trick. As well as applying bleeds with my pike and then switching weapons if need be to get all the xp from the second weapon.

Although, with a set of buffs and my armor on I don't need any tricks to kill stuff. I'm just that d@mn good.

I keep hearing about this and I really am ignorant as to how it's supposed to work. Is there a macro I should run while fighting. I'm Fencer 0/0/0/0. i've tried using it but seems like as soon as i hit the button it's ending.

thnx

The higher you get up the footwork tree (which should be your first priority) the longer, and more effective it gets.

COB (Center of Being) improves the profession specific secondary defense modifier. For Fencers this is Dodge.

COB is given two modifiers, efficiency and duration which dictate how effective it is. Both improve as you go from Novice Brawler through One-hand, Fencer and then Master Fencer. You also receive a bonus if you Master Brawler.

Essentially the simple way to understand what COB does is to add your "Center of Being efficiency" modifier to you Dodge modifier. This value will give you the new Dodge when COB is activated (roughly 220 at Blademaster).

As for a macro, I use a very simple one. The name is just "Center" and it goes:
/center;
/pause 33;
/macro center;
You stop the macro by doing the /dump command.

I can't recall the pause duration off the top of my head but you should set it to about 2 seconds more than your "center of being duration" modifier to compensate for lag. If you plan on using a macro at the early stages, make sure to constantly update it as you level... otherwise it will screw up. You also need to take into consideration that when you do COB it is put in your combat queue so if you spam up a list of specials, you're macro will also be thrown off.

I wouldn't bother using COB until you get more defenses and more COB mods. It doesn't get too useful until around about 0420 or so.

There's not really any reason not to use it. With some muon and decent mental stats, it takes around 50 mind... that's not too bad considering the advantages you get.

I was looking in the faq and reading other posts but have not found any complete info about this. The link for explaining COB in the FAQ just returnes you to the main fencer forum page. I have heard that people use macros to keep COB running continuesly. I am just begging on the fencer path and am only at 1handed block 2 in the brawler tree but I would like to accuire as much info as possible to make the climb smoother. If there is anything besides this that is an absolute a fencer needs to know please do not hesitate to let me know. Thank you.

Really until you get into a fencer a bit, CoB is useless, it simply doesn't last long enough and takes too much ham to be constantly putting it up every few seconds. Once you get it so that it lasts around 15 or 20 secs, then it is extremely useful and should never be off.

CoB is an abreviation for Center of Being. It is a skill given at Novice Brawler, but really only increases dramatically in the Fencer profession.

In the Brawler tree, CoB has an extremelly short life span of its use, and is not too effective either. But do not hesitate to cancel your attacks to active CoB and then return to your attacks.

Once you hit Novice Fencer, CoB becomes ever increasinly useful. As the life span for each activation becomes longer as you progress up the according tree, and its use of increasing your Dodge becomes extremelly helpful.

Once you hit Master Fencer (Blademaster), CoB is the most effective that it can become and what itcan dois actually beautiful. I am not sure for a fact, as each battle is different, but most of the time a Blademaster can dodge almost 8 or 9 incoming attacks from enemies with Center of Being activated. As well the life span becomes longer and you can preform more attacks, as you are at the speed cap, in between each activation.

In my experience though, as well as any other Blademaster, is that after you hit Novice Fencer, work your way up the Footwork tree to Footwork IV immediatly and as fast as you can. Once you are at Footwork IV, you character is basically at the speed cap; and the rest of the profession is cake to level. As when you can attack faster, you can slay faster.

Get yourself a fast-speed (probably 2.3 or 2.2), lower-damage Gaffi Stick while you are working up the Footwork tree. Once you hit Footwork IV, you can trade in thefast speed Gaffi for a slower-speeded (3.4 or 3.3), higher-damaging one. As once you are at Footwork IV the speeds on your weapons do not really have any great effect on your actuall attack speed.

As a counter-profession, I would say become a Master Doctor, being able to buff yourself andcure any ailments is very useful when leveling up or just soloing PvE.

Hope this information helps you out, and welcome to the profession! I hope you find it as satisfying as I do.

Since your only at the 2nd box of 1H swords in the brawler tree, don't even worry about COB. It would only last for about 5 seconds and running it on a macro to keep it going would drain your HAM incredibly fast. TO make your way up fencer smooth and fast, get a good 1H curved sword witha speed of 1.9 or less and damage of 170 or better. Buy a set of 70%+ kinetic Ubese armor. Get a set of doctor buffs and BE enhanced brandy. Go to Dantooine and get missions for Quenkers. You'll go from your current lvl to Novice Fencer by the time the set of buffs wear off.

At Novice Fencer continue to use your curved sword and keep hunting Quenkers till you get to atleast Footwork 3(go all the way up the footwork line first). Once you have footwork 3 and spin attack 2, switch over to a nice damage sliced Gaffi stick. Now still using armor, buffs and brandy, do missions for Savage Quenkers, and just spam spin attack 2 on the lair(you'll hit and kill all the quenkers that pop out of the lair). Get Footwork 4. Continue to do this till master.
