no no.. put those last 3 into Melee Spd.
This gives you +9 speed. which is just under half way to Capping Pikes. And for the time being it will cap Rifles as well.
Use this to hunt everything to get your +7 you need for rifle Speed so when they fix it you are ok and there is no change.
Speed capped Pike will take down most NS. Speed Capped Rifleman will take down most Elders.
in PVP. you will do just fine. LEarn to use both. Know when to use both and you will do fine.

I'm going master pike, master rifleman. Rifleman is the most damaging profession in the game, hands down. The heavy AP and high damage of the T21, along with strafe 2's 5x modifier are sickening at ones a second. Unless what you're fighting has a high resist to energy for some reason, you'll outdamage 2 of most other professions as a speed capped rifleman with a damage sliced T21. And yes, rifles are much easier to speed cap than swords, so if you're short on money, you can be more effective with rifles than swordsman more than likely. But it is a style thing. I was swords pike for a while, and when I speed capped pike, I found that non speed capped swordsman was just about useless to me due to lack of damage output. And I didn't feel like spending the tons of money to cap swordsman. However, you probably won't (at least easily) be able to solo elders, like you can with swords. Rifleman is the most damaging prof in the game, provided you have a tank to prevent you from getting rocked (no cob or toughness). Let's see....I can't think of any other points right now. But there's a few I've considered.

Don't forget that with Master Rifleman you also get Ranged Damage Mitigation 3. Without ranged mitigation you'll find you can be torn to pieces by a laser rifle. Even a Carbineer becomes a deadly opponent without it.

Either pwns at pve!
Can solo just about any thing with swords or rifles... But I'd have to say rifles would be better for pvp.

I wouldn't be so quick to write-off rifles as they have some distinct benefits but it really depends on your play style. The problem with an "all brawler" template is you have no ranged mitigation which means you'll be at a distinct disadvantage if you come up against an experienced rangedplayer: all they have to do iskeep youat arms length and you're toast.
Kiting aka running away from you. What ranged professions are best at.
Make sure you get scout 4XXX to so that you can run away faster in the wild.

im master pikeman/master swordsman/master brawler with combat prowess 4044 and enhanced reflex 0300.
i was dueling a bh carbines in theed.
im speed capped with both pike and swords
me: buffed + armor
him: buffed but NO armor.
he did fire kd and then spray shot and i got my ass kicked in less than 20secs, i got 400dmg/hit.
so ranged mitigation is definately needed lol

Unless you're going to fight with the ranged weapon (which makes sense if they're kiting) there's not a lot of point in picking it up.
Edit: Hmm, just read a post in the core systems forum which suggests that it functions at all times. Since antares made it and he's a reliable source I'll accept that. Damn antares, making me look bad...

That's toughness... Example: Unarmed toughness only works when unarmed (or "unarmed weapons")

If your fs grinding go master swords/master pikes. Both have great area attacks that can get the job done quickly

I've been master pike/master rifle (speedcapped in both) for a long time now and i abosolutly love it in pve and pvp. Current template:
Rifles: master
Pike: master
Medic: 2240
Prowess: 0044
Reflexes: 4430
Senses: 4004
In pve, a 500+ max t21 and 700+ max LVA can take care of just about anything. In PvP the pikes are great for dotting, then rifles are great for kiting and finishing them off with a good jawa or disruptor. Forkilling jedipikes are great. Get yourself a 1K+ max damage and/or acouple of 200+ strength fire dots and you can really work them over. The rifles will be relatively cheap, but pikes will be really expensive unless you go loot your own.
