Thread: pikeman best melee class?
when hitting the "reply" button for whichever post you want to reply to, you are taken to the input screen where you can choose from either writing the response in the graphical editor, or write it in the html editor. If you choose to write/edit in html the code needed for quoting is: <BLOCKQUOTE> <text> </BLOCKQUOTE>. Then again, you might want to keep it easy and just hit the chatbubble right next to your text option bar once in the graphical edit mode. Just remember that the quote in the graphical editor will be for whoever you chose to reply to ![]()
"Message Body: You don't have permission to post HTML. Tag is restricted: <TEXT>"
Waahhh!!!
What does that mean?!?......it keeps saying that everytime I try to post the quoted message!..
huh? well, that's a new one for me too
Did you try the /bug yet? Humm

Your stubborn streak is your undoing then. I'm a Novice 0/0/1/1, and have won 3 out of the 4 duels I've had against pistoleers (the loss was to a CM/pistoleer whose poison finally took me down). Using a basic lance, they are on their back in seconds, then a LVA bleed, within 3 ticks, it's over. Part of mastery should include using the right tool for the job. If you continue to try sawing through the wood with a hammer, you will find it most difficult.
Misterie
Where do you GET this garbage? Who the heck do you fight that actually LETS You get in sweep range? A pistoleer can kite us all day, and damage mitigation completely SCREWS our PVP skills against all other melee classes.
No garbage, at all. Start the duel within range or don't start it. A melee starting duel at pistol range would just be silly, in my opinion. As for damage mitigation, I forget who posted the tip that bleeding someone while (s)he's on his/her back increases the damage, coupled with delivery from an LVA, that is all it takes. As for kiting, use visual tricks (trees/buildings/etc) to keep them from hitting you. They do work. You can't be kited if you don't give chase. This goes back to truly mastering a profession. If you play into your own weaknesses, you are defeating yourself.

Yes, garbage indeed.
1) Ok, so you want to start all duels in melee range or don't duel... can't a pistol user, say the same thing? That's just a dumb thing to say, smart as it may be, that means you'll only duel people who can also dish out melee or are flat out stupid duelers
2) You should NOT have to bleed someone with mitigation to do equal damage. A fencer can bleed you back and tear you apart because their damage range is smaller. This makes your arguement only apply against someone who can't bleed, like a TKA, which doesn't matter since you'll be on your back the entire fight anyways.
3) Terrain does NOT stop them from hitting you unless it's large, like a city structure. I've been shot through trees, mountains, even some buildings in kaadara. Yes, you can run like a scared little girl, because obviously, you can't compete at range.. so what do you do? Chase and attempt to get in range? No, can't do that, you'll be kited, so you stand yoru ground and they pop shots at you from max range? No.. Gotta get away so they cant shoot you, so you burst AWAY?
Ok so let me get this straight, your l33t skill in mastering Pikeman means, you run away allot... w00t Man, my path is so much clearer now.

--- duel me or my terms, or not. Not stupid at all, I'm just not eager to throw my life away. I have no qualms about saying "no, thank you" to a duel offer. If they can also dish out melee damage, it should be an interesting fight.

--- I've been bled by all sorts of weapons. The fencer can't compare with a LVA does to someone on his/her back. The one I lost, by the way,was against a combat medic who poisoned me (close enough to a bleed), it was interesting to see which gave in first, my action or her mind/action as she continually tried to keep her action up.

--- I didn't say terrain, I specifically said trees and buildings. Surprisingly you can shoot through some structures, and not others. If you can't hide behind the tree I suggest shifting ever so slightly, and timing your way to the next bigger tree/building. If you can't draw your enemy into your range, let him go. As in 1), I have no qualms about letting him stay outside of range. If (s)he won't face me on my terms, oh well. I move on.

--- Lots of clarification needed here: a) I never claimed to be, nor do I desire to be "l33t", b) I'm not a master (though mastering). c) "Run away a lot?" tough call, I bring my enemies to fight on my ground. d) "w00t Man, my path is much clearer now." Wrong gender, but glad to help :-)
