Listen to me, not me...

I felt the same way you do when I first upgraded to a basic lance. Really, the euphoria starts taking a down hill dive from there on out.

One thing you need to consider is no Armor peircing (AP) on your basic lance, which means any mob you fight that has an armor rating oflight reduces your 360 max damage to 190. Armor rating of medium 95. Heavy 48. Now your basic lance has the accuracy but that Dire Cat is chewing on your intestines.

But, if you got all giddy when you first sliced through those meatlumps with ease, you will enjoy the profession. Our area attacks are loads of fun. The only problem is we don't line up with the other meele professions, at end game. You could by all means pick up a curved sword (two-handed) and cut up the meatlumps just as efficiently...you wouldn't look as cool doing it, but they would drop just the same.

There will be a time my hairy stick carrying friend, when you die a horrible death to a group of creatures you would think you would have no problem soloing. Then, and only then as you stare at the cloning menu, will you understand the plight of the pikeman.

Those two are prolly just one. Either way they are trolling. Problem is there is no real way to compare what you are fighting now to what you will need to be fighting to level through the Pikeman profession. Once you get out of brawler things will change on you real quick. Matter of fact, it might make you think a lil if you pull up the pikeman profession in-game in your skillsmenu and take a look at the XP gains needed. You will see the problems eventually. From novice to about 3/4's of the way up the pikeman tree you be frustrated, angry, meek, and slightly psycotic. After that you just become old, and tired.

Once you get Novice Pike........Find a novice TK and duel him.

Nonetheless _me, and _unit....need a drink, or some chocolate.

I would offer more support, but I'm guessing you are Imp and thus I must now turn my back and pretend I don't know you

you know, im gonna get flamed for this, but oh well. I have a question. Has anyone here actually ever swung anything remotely like a pike, in real life? They are a bulky, heavy weapon. Once you commit to a swing, its hard to redirect. Lets compare shall we? If you look at TKA, they have speed, and accuracy. Most empty handed styles out there, teach their peeps to let the big stick pass ya by, then take em out. Fencer. Well in the game, its more like escrima/Kali(stickfighting), these boys have the defence. If youve ever watched an actual kali man fight, they like to hit and run. The attack comes in, they deflect and hit. And since the weapons are realistic in size, its very easy to redirect an attack or feint. Swordsman, well, they eventually turn into a big ole hammer swinging bunch. They in the same boat as a pikeman, once commited, they find it hard to pull an attack, but it hits hard. But the can have some articulation with their weapon. Think of old school style maces. These were made to basically combat plate armor. SInce you couldnt penetrate, pulverize. ANd yes it is possible to articulate with a mace. WHy am i bringing this up. Cause if you look at it from a realistic side, it kinda makes sense, not right mind you, but makes sense. If you think about it, your spinning this huge weapon, and yeah whatever walks into you, is gonna get hit. Look at most real pikes, used mostly to combat calvary, you got something chargin ya, and you hold your ground with this pike, your letting the horses energy do the damage of the attack, theres no accuracy there. Now i love playin my pike, and no im not a master pikeman, but i am 4/2/3/3. Ive felt some of the pain in this profession, not all of it, some. But it doesnt bother me, cause in my mind, i know the realism. Anyways, flame away.

Not going to flame, just going to say. Have you ever swung a pike?

After doing kung fu years ago i remember doing the staff a few times. That thing was great. The moves you can do and the speed you can do them at are truly amazing.

The old pike however, the halberd or whatever, yes used by people fully equipped in heavy armour is indeed something used slowly and to inflict some nice armour piercing damage.

But yes DarhBarrak dont listen to those few who were rude, pikemen as a whole are generally not too bad . Although yes you may have spoken too soon.

it's funny how the meanest reply was a BH lol...... my alt is a pikeman .. i got it jsut to make a pikeman... and im happy i did.. its not uber or anything.. but its probably one of the most fun professions... theres plenty of room for improvement and if it doesnt happen.. at elast we are luckier then DE.. their idea of a revamp id make existing droids less useful and giving dancer modules and spam modules.... i rather have them not touch pike then possibly worsen what exists

yes, i have swung a pike. Ive been doin weapon based arts since 93. Kali, Escrima, Pechak Silat, Ber Silat....all of which have a heavy hitter one way or another......inthe Philipino styles...there a huge head hunting monster, it cleaves whatever it connects to...but you have to get it there............so yeah, i have some r/l experience in this stuff, swingin sticks is what i do for fun.......i dug fencer, reminded me so much of kali, but wanted to give pikeman a whirl.

Darth, don't take the complaints you see as a sign that pikeman is awful or all of us are masochists who hate what we're doing. If we didn't enjoy it, we wouldn't do it.

Pikeman is simply a disadvantaged class that has largely been ignored by the devs, and it gets frustrating to be considerably weaker than other combat classes who put in the same amount of effort and skill points. Seeing as you decided to be a wookiee pikeman and not a zabrak rifleman/tka, I suspect being super-powerful is not a huge concern for you.

So go right on enjoying what you're doing. Despite some definite moments of frustration, pikeman's still a hell of a lot of fun.

Shame on you for being an Imperial wookiee though.

There are definately some issues with the prof. It REALLY sucks to be standing next to a mob and see the Range Mod say -50 . However, it is a REALLY fun profession. I started Pike as a hologrind and fell in love with it after I hit Novice Pike. Moves look good and we do some pretty good damage...when we hit. Stick with it and have fun with it...don't listen to the naysayers.
