Don't listen to the naysayers, Pikeman can be a fun and really enjoyable profession. Now for the "However".

However,

if you're doing this because a holocron told you, and it's not your first and you don't have scout, it's a pain in the butt. Terrain negotiation is a must. Also, take a look at some Pikeman guides that are out there, they'll all give you a lot of good info, especially when it comes to accuracy of different weapons and damage types (vibro lance does electricity, vibro axe does more damage but it's kinetic, have both in your inventory).

Doc buffs are a godsend, as are entertainer buffs, or have a doc/medic with you (being one is almost as good, but mind incap is a danger).

Once you get your Vibro Axe cert, it's possible to kill creatures much higher than your current ability level says you can. Have medic, have fun, kill humbabas or their equivalent and get lots of xp.

Most of all, have fun, you've got the coolest sounding attacks in the game, and who could want more?

ah. I have knockdown1 now, i still don't like it. It doens't work on most things, and they are usually back up before i can hit htem again. I'm slwoing learning get buffed when a doctor is around. when no one is buffing, there is always tat sunburn (anyone know a good source on ahazi) and spice, but the after effects are nasty.

I normally use a pet that can tank, and then i use polearmhit2, and the polearmstun2 unless there are 2 or more things attackn. then i use spin1. i'm now 1 0 1 2.

I was a BH before this, so I still have master scout.

From a master pikeman like me i say Go for it... Pikeman is alot of fun but make sure you either are a good medic or know some good medics.

About speed at master pikeman it is just unreal and specials are really fast but don't let it go to your head we still cannot PVP.

well that sure is reassuring. I'm doing the far left column first to get the speed up, then I will start in on one of the other columns. My stats finally shifted, so now my mind regens a lot faster, allowing me to pause and heal myself (i have first aid 4) real fast while fighting. I'm gonna start using tat sunburn to help reduce the cost of speciasl..

As a Master Doctor, I do my own buffs, so I'm actually enjoying being a Novice Pikeman. I also have a non-CH pet to tank for me. If I don't buff I can't take on much. Being buffed I can hold my own, as long as my pet is there for the really tuff stuff. With the new pet nerfs coming down the line (non-CH can only have one level 10 (vs. 15) pet), I'm thinking its going to make being a Pikeman harder.

Having said all that, I'm actually starting to think I'll going to miss Pikeman, when I get my next Holocron and have to switch again. I'm enjoying being a Pikeman.

another update.... i'm sure you are all annoyed by now. i got stances 2, so that gave me speeed+15. it seems to make a noticeable difference. I'm starting to acutally be able to do some real damage.

Knockdown seems to work once on enemies. and it keeps them down about long enouhg for me to get 1 hit in. so... i'f i'm like it will get me an extra 1000 or so damage.

i've been hunting a lot of huurtons, huurton howler, huurton stalkers, queckner, etc on dant. it seems to work well. i get xp fast...
