I had to get medic skills to stay alive. Even at a few boxes shy of Master Doc (boxes are filled, skill points are lacking), I can barely keep myself alive. Buffing and Big stims help, but against a tough MOB or multiple targets, forget it. The only saving grace, that even allows me to fight anyting bigger than butterflies, is Peaches, my Graul Mauler. I stand between his feet and swing ocassionaly. I have started to wear some composite armor, to keep the big hits off my head, but had to adjust my stats considerably to allow this. Hope the Buffs dont wear off in the middle of something.
Top concerns: Why were we beaten down so severely? We have a choice of 2-3 resonable weapons, they all have huge HAM costs, and -55 to hit??? What the heck, are we new? No skills? Sure, Master gives you more bonuses, but if you dont have the skill points, you'll never see them. Plus, those bonuses just barely make up for the already huge negatives. Bad weapons, bad mods, no pluses. Why would anyone ever do this? Well, I guess those reading/writing these know the answer, but come on...a little help?
I don't PvP, so any problems there, I have no idea. I can guess tho, that the running while shooting you in the eye, is a bit much. Even the Meatlumps do it. Shoot, run like mad. Perhaps a boomerang might help us. I don't need an Uber weapon like a flame thrower, or an LLC, but maybe something a lot less crappy.
Damage by creatures is one thing. No one has to pick a fight with a Rancor. Damage to myself, by using the only weapons allowed me is something else. Enough whining for today.

--If so, why? Well in the beginning because I like to solo hunt some, and then none of my friends were... I am a self proclaimed, and titled, "field medic" I know just enough to get by in the field but lack the added ablilities of a master medic or doctor. First aid treatment, Stimb/medpack B's... Just recently I've felt it necessary to get the entire pharmacology branch (originallyI planned on just 2/1/0/4) but felt the use of Stim C's necessary for the good of myself and my pets. My pets to lessen the downtime with them and myself so that I can use special moves without killing myself (or at least lessen the chances of that happening). My HAM is geared toward Max health, action and mind with strength, constitution, quickness, stamina and focus being almost as low as possible and my willpower almost maxed. That way I can heal often, and the strength and quickness doesnt hardly matter anyway. I tried them both maxed, and both min and the difference in HAM usage for special moves was about 5 points. I am a human.
What are your top issues with this profession? Accuracy, HAM costs, and therefore damage output
What are your overall thoughts on this profession? I chose melee because I like the idea of physical combat. Martial arts have always fascinated me. I chose pikeman for the finesse of the combat staff. (somethingI wish was a more viable alternative to the LVA) I love trying to be the tank for my group of friends (who are all ranged). Sadly my pets end up tanking more than I, since if I get aggro'd on they all end up healing me since I take a LOT of damage from critters (due to wearing almost no armor gloves and boots usually, sometimes bracers, never anything else) and compunded by the fact that my special move HAM costs take 2-4x as much as theirs do (even with HAM reducing powerups which I always use). I am no quitter and have faith that this profession will reach a status revered among everyone for the hard work put into mastering and the benefits brought to a groupand fear brought by getting anywhere near me,not pittitied and unwanted for taking away precious round times for having to heal me.

Well, i do have CH, but that's because it's impossible for me to acctually do anything without them. Pikemen should have good defense (for actual tanking)since pikemen, after all are known to play a defensive role. We, Pikemen, get the lowest Defense among all the melees.
Yes I have (3,2,4,4) in the Medic tree. I have these medic skills in order to almost remove downtime, so I can survive the ridiculous ham costs, and so that I can heal my pets.
I posted these issues on the petition on the top of these boards but for your research I'll just pasted them onto here for ya for your last inqueries.

Chose the balancing to get the extra defense vs. modifiers added to my Master Pikeman. Chose last box to get the melee defense and ranged defense modifiers as well.

Pikeman were awsome and very fun to play with in a group and/or solo. Pikeman are now worthless in both solo or in a group and im a bit dissatisified with the profession as of late.
The purpose of this survey is to gather statistical proof of our condition, your thoughts on the pikeman profession and any issues you may have with it, and other such information that may help to serve balancing the pikeman profession. Before anyone says that we are balanced let me add that after doing some research I have discovered that a two handed curved sword does more damage per second than even our long vibro axe, and it is much more accurate. In the mean time, I'll be doing more research in game finding the stats of as many melee weapons as I can find. Please answer the following:

--If so, what are they and why did you choose those skills? Learning Rifle Since Im now a Gimp as of 9/4 KD timer. I figure I'll find someone else to hide behind for a change.
Do you have medic skills? Yes
--If so, why?: Because as a Pikeman I take ALL of the aggro while ranged sits safely out of rangeand pummels the target.
What are your top issues with this profession? Lack of Defensive Moves (KD timer) except once every 30 seconds, but by then I'm incapped/dead before i can use it again. Its worthless as it stands now.
HAM Costs and accuracy are in need of some serious evaluation.

i'm having a hard time deciding whether i should play FF XI or Horizons. i dont want to hate SWG, so i think i'll need to stop playing itfor a few months, and hopefully everything will be better by then. excuse me for not being constructive here....there's nothing new to say about what's making us pikeman useless as a combat class.
if i'm correct, they wont give pikeman better range than other melee professions. they say they think of us as rifleman in melee..........yah...and i thought rifle had good range...

Novice Doctor - 0/2/1/1
Realized that having a medic/doctor in guild was important. Also needed medic skill to survive yellows/reds. White are not usually a problem unless i get cursed with the "miss" bug. Just learned the enhance skill and found that to help me and others as well. Selling stimps is a not so bad income as well.
Overall thoughts
I trully enjoy the pikeman profession mainly cause we look real cool in combat (that is if we are not incaped) and I like the martial arts style of combat. My main issues are the nerfed knockdown, accuracy, and lack of blocking. If we are given 3 knowdown style moves, why wouldn't we be able to use them consecutively and then put a limit on that move specifically. If not, whats the point. I struggle with this because my pet peeve is chasing those **edit** rebels once you start attacking them. Then they stop for perhaps one hit and I usually miss and the chase is on again. Sometimes they pull me so far that when i get back to the rebel base to destroy, more have spawned. Kinda frustrating.

Yeah, without medic skill to heal yourself, you'll get owned by the lack of toughness, and ham cost of special when taking on more advanced mob.
Issue..hmm....since we're all focused on action bleed and everything, why don't we hit action more when we get up the support tree instead of hitting health more? We're not the most damaging class as described but that should be fixed if the combat proposal works out. I personally didn't think it would take so much effort to miss someone with big weapon such as the long vibro axe.
Overall thoughts eh? I think itsmade forthose who seek to prove their endurance of gimpedness.

--If so, why? So I can heal people in PvP since I am worthless almost always in anything large scale.
What are your top issues with this profession? Defense. I could do better vs Giant cats like the Narglatch with KD then even the BH. I even grinded to Sweep 2 first. Now I can't take 1 narglatch.
What are your overall thoughts on this profession? I am hoping the devs will make us the best mounted profession since lances and riding has been the best since the beginning of time. I will be master some day.

Master Doctor
I never wanted to be a medic/doc actually. Then I picked it up to negate ham costs and help our resident medic keep up durring fights. I never pressed to raise skills in medic untill I saw revive and enhancements. Was hooked and am glad I have these valuable skills.
Problems with the profession: Accuracy, dmg, ham costs, the usual. As a general melee problem, we're being kited very easy. I think we should be doing a lot more damage than we do now.
Other than those standard problems, I think our class is great, and definatly one of the most fun that I've played (I am an ex-ranged player and was very bored sitting behind tanks). We have a good variety of attacks and you just can't beat the sound of the LVA.
