Thread: REFORMATED LVA and VL ave DPS by move:
Thanks for the info Opeth...
I wish the DEV's would explain how the to-hit mods and weapon accuracy stats came to be. I think we should have higher to hit bonuses for our specials, especially given the low accuracy of the weapons themselves.
It doesn't seem balanced that a weapon with good accuracy stats like a pistol gets +50 on special attacks when polearms (and other melee weapons) get +15 or less.
Using the VL exclusively is still a mistake. The one thing these stats don't reflect (excellent excellent work on putting all that together, by the way. I really appreciate it) is the medium armor piercing of the LVA over the light armor piercing of the VL. You'll find that significantly ups your damage above and beyond the base DPS metric.
Logically, you should still use the VL for special moves, especially if your intent is to inflict a state modifier (stun, dizzy, KD) rather than doing extra damage. If your goal is more damage, I would stay with the LVA unless you can't afford the HAM at that point in time (in which case you're most likely about to die anyway).
This is all assuming you've taken into account the natural resists of your target (hint: don't bother with the VL against a Rancor).

I just noticed something. You didn't put in the dps for the standard autoattack (i.e. not doing ANY special moves). So I figured it out for myself. And then I cried.
PolearmHit1, because of the added time tacked on for using that move, does the same DPS as regular autoattack.
So you do no more damage, yet kill your HAM. And to think, when I was a rookie brawler working my way up the polearm line and wearing either no armor or bone armor, I would chain polearmhit1 over and over again all fight long, then sit and heal up all that HAM damage afterwards.
Feel free to correct me if my math is wrong.
For the love of god, I'm HOPING my math is wrong.
Glad to see some folks are still making use of this work.
I didn't take armor piercing into account...perhaps I'll revisit this and create a more comprehensive look at the damage across foe armor types. I can also include the base dps info as well.
Give me some time, this may take a while

For example, unless you have master level accuracy...I think the VL is a better choice than the the LVA. The DPS is a bit lower, but you'll hit far more. Since I created this chart, I've used the VL exclusively with some new combos created based on my calcs. Everyone I group with has noticed the improvement.
The numbers I used were from my weapons. I craft power-ups specifically for pikemen and the ones in second set of calcs I make by the crate and stockpile them.
If you don't use aliases and macros to create combos, I highly suggest it. I just started doing that and find it very helpful. I have two aliases that I use as a combo and target health. I have two more that work as a combo and target action.
what are you talking about....
1) approach giant baz nitch (or mutant baz nitch)
2) use sweep until it gets knocked down (may fail or miss a couple times)
3) spam polearmhit 2 until baz nitch drops
new combos?? what the
if you were killing uber critters all you would do is knock it down stack your bleeds, bail and come back when they wear off and repeat.
Kentak,
What was your pikeman profile when you were soloing baz nitches and what other profession skills do you have that help you? When I posted this I was 2-1-1-1 in polearm. I could do baz niches with a pet if I was on spice orhad buffs, but it took forever. Also, I hate waiting for buffs if there's nobody selling them at the outpost.
Now I'm 3-1-1-2 with master brawler and I find things a bit easier.
I've never found knockdown that useful as most mobs get right back up. Right now I'm not using many specials. Inow do the following with a speed sliced VL or LVA:
/warcry2
/intimidate2
/berserk2
Stacking bleeds and running away isn't really my style of play, but whatever floats your boat.
