As someone else pointed out earlier, our role is too die. My combat skills as a pikeman are a complete joke amongst my guildmates, the only respect I recieve is the fact that I'm this patient with such a crappy class. And if you really wanna try it, try doing it as a Wookiee brawler, so much for being able to rip people's arms off....Talk about being gimped. But thats a whole other thread in and of itself. The point is pikeman needs specific attention, no more of this lets improve all melee by giving cr*p loads off bonuses to TKA, a few to fencer and 2handed and thennone at all to pikeman. Sit down and look at pikeman, see how irritated you get when the HAM costs and the fact that you can't hit for sh*t drive you nuts. On a side note, one should note that the last 6 profession listed in the Friday Feature metrics were the other three brawler classes. Hmm, says something doesn't it?

Geez, TH, at least look at the problems before telling people they are wrong. I'm glad you enjoy your brawler, now just look at the skill lists and see that Pikeman get +4 Toughness while every other melee profession gets +10 per skill level and then go bash some dev over the head until he fixes something that never should have gotten through the slipshod process that you guys passed off as beta testing.

Our role is to provide quick and easy medical xp to Medics, Doctors and Combat Medics.


I accounted for close to 60% of both a Master Doctor and Master CM's xp. Isn't that nice.

I love playing the Tank.






we have no accuracy and high HAM along with a 4m range so anything we can do in a group is be a short lasting meat shield to hit maybe hit a bleed and die first





Actually there are some really neat melee changes on TC right now...


And yes, that inaccuracy is due to client/server stuff so that range is going to be 9 or 10 meters to give us a little leeway...


I personally can't wait.

Sorry, TH, but you show how little you know about pikeman...We are not much of a tank. You play a TKA, there is a huge difference. Please look at this post and see the differences in stats:

Also, the accuracy issues we're talking about are the -55/-55/-55 range mods on our best weapon and -32/-32/-32 on our second best weapon. Not client/server issues.

And yes, on TC we're getting a nice +block bonus. But the +accuracy (+20 only) and defense bonuses (+10 melee/ranged) might not be enough to really help us out. We'll have to see, but in comparison with what TKA and fencer are getting, it could look better. This is the post with what we'll be having if what is on TC goes live now.

I have to agree, TH you need to play a pikeman to know a pikeman, Polearms 4 does not count. I mean if we could actually tank it would be differant and the changes we get are substantially less than our melee brothers. Does PC block even work? From what I have talked to with Master Pikemen the answer is always NO! the inaccuracy thing needs fixed regardless of what kind of problem it is, 2-3 Meters more ranges and some + accuracy on our weapons, not skills would be all itd take. I understand that TKAs wanted more than a 3m range but itd be nice if we could hit further than the unarmed men.

I have a request of you. Stop saying there are some really cool 'melee' changes on TC. TKA does not represent all melee. Neither does Fencer, Swordsman, or Pikeman. Changes to any of these don't necessarily mean all 'melee' will be fine after the patch.


The biggest problem melee has is the devs group us as one, and think fixing one fixes the other 3.


I've seen the changes Pikeman get on TC, and I know that even with Cob, they are nowhere near the changes we need. I'd like to see you read Opeth's posts to you in the correspondent forum and work with him toform a 'plan of action for pikeman' post.


Pikeman will never be a viable combat class untill we get a 'Pikeman Plan' and not a 'Melee Plan'

My respect to all pikemen (and our sisters) that still post here. I left the forums because I was sick of all the disgruntled pikemen insulting eachotherover minor disagreements, especially when the knockdown timer came about. There seems to be more harmony here now, the way it always should have been in such a small community of players. The fact that a developer has even begun posting here is amazing in my opinion. I still love pikeman, and I will quit this game if I ever stop playing a pikeman...

My role as a pikeman in a group/duo is to supply a myriad of pet combinations to tank. My secondary role is to earn people with medical abilities medical XP from healing me as using my aoe attacks (which correct me if I'm wrong, are supposed to be one of our stronger points) results in many a near death experience from aggroing all the beasties towards myself.

Just thought I'd point that out.


BTW, started a brawler on TC, just to see, am currently getting owned by a Jabba swooper (3k), and wishing for my pike. I'd forgotten how hard early playing is, and this is only a lvl 8 mission.

oh, and I should point out that I was not pointing fingers towards any particular whiners, although the ones that have holo joined pikeman, then pop in here to tell us how bad we suck kinda irks me.

1. The role of the tank is not to die its to get in there and kick ass and protect our weak friends shooting..who actualy dont appear to be that weak. And please we are not in the mood for humor around here any more.

3. Another very disturbing patch note I saw was the a few of the guys who shoot us with guns are ACTUALLY MORE DEFENSE AGIANST MELEE?...WTH...its almost a nerf for us? WHY GOD WHY!
