Until recently, I've been a Master Doc/Master Pikeman pretty much from the beginning. I maxed out all 3 mind stats (as stated above) and the other secondaries then evened out Health and Action. When not buffed your like a turtle out of your shell but when buffed you are tough. Your mind as in every profession will be the problem area so use the new foods and drinks geared toward enhancing mind stats. I wore a good enc sliced set of ubese for fighting. The template is sound but by no means a PvP template. The template seems to keep you on your heals. You become very dependent on the doc buffs. If you like helping out in groups and the healing aspects of being a game doctor by all means stay with it.
Even while buffed I would get my butt kicked in PvP all the time. I found that even though I could heal states the attacker could place them back on at a quicker pace so I was always on the defensive. I decided to due somewthing totally radical...Go for a heavily offensive template. you remember the ole saying a good offense is a good defense...well it's true. By dropping Master Doc and blending other melee professions, I became less dependent on Doc buffs because the defense mods from the other professions do the job and even have propelled me into the next level.
Good Luck

How does that work since the defense mod nerf???
Also, with state healing - I'm already finding that I'm spending way too much of my mind worrying about healing the states - instead of worrying about the direct damage... I found that if I leave the states on and just go all out on damage its a lot better, unless I'm taking a LOT of damage - then I gotta take those states into consideration... a Stun or intimidate can take me down to nothing VERY quick.
Well IMHO I think that there is no way the dev team will make (other than TKA because someone is getting a hefty bribe or something....j/k) a more combat oriented template with more combat xp get owned by someone who only has one elite melee profession trained up. It's a choice. If you choose to be a crafter and a Pikeman you will almost always lose to a Master Pikeman/Master Brawler/Master Fencer. But you will kick his butt when it comes to making speederbikes. If there is any nerfing it will be across the board and everyone will be affected so it honestly no longer concerns me. Why, because everyone (except TKA...j/k) will be in the same boat as I.

Ya know .. I don't know what all the talk about TKA is... I don't think they are that uber...
We have a Master Doc/Master TKA in our PA ... and he's pretty solid on his feet anytime we've met some heat ... but he goes up against our master swordsman and its a close match (TKA is buffed, swordsman is not) .. It really is about luck .. swordsman only needs a few well-placed shots and away they go - no bleeds involved.
I find that the biggest problem with TKA is that they frighten the crap outta me .. they go ninja on me and kick me non-stop - it feels like I'm being bombarded ... truth is I can still smack em

Thanks so much guys for all the wonderful feedback! Someone asked so here goes.. my stats are as follows:
Yes I spam specials
I do not wear any armor (alt is master tailor and I use BE clothing)
my stats are all pumped into my mind pools, the rest are minimized (hey, I ALWAYS have buffs *shrug*)
I'm using a VL mostly, sometimes LVA but miss alot
So far I'm loving the profession. I enjoy being a pikeman and will be sure to master it. I appreciate all the feedback, it has helped tremendously.
