yes, but you have to be qualified to have the DOT stick, i know a guy w/ a 400 str mind fire Geo that never sticks cuz he hasnt qualified (obviously he was going pistolz anyway) lol....but i wouldnt care if DOTs get nerfed as long as we are balanced by MUCH higher dmg multipliers on our specials, make us the heavy hitters of the melee crowd and i will be happy forever more

see, they arent gonna give us melee defense AND better dmg
we should have better specials but right now we have the WEAKEST specials in the game (these i believe were nerfed to balance us out a bit, but i honestly think things have changed for i think our defenses have been nerfed too)
i would love to be able to just have heavy hitting specials and the same defense, i dont want pikeman to become another tank profession

Pikeman are supposed to be slow, heavy hitting brawlers. After all, getting hit with an axe that can cut through bone should hurt more than a hammer crushing said bone. Hopefully, we'll get some decent melee defense with the CURB.

Other professions would still have better melee defense. Their weapons are less cumbersome allowing them to focus on defending themselves. I'm just saying we should get defenses worth having, not the simple dizzy/kd/stun mods we have now.Another +15 to Melee Defense would be nice. As it stands, having just Pikeman for a combat profession levels Melee Defense off at 30.

Actually pikeman has slightly better defences than swordsman.

actually, this may be so on paper but play as a pikeman and you see a big difference, i was a pikeman/swordsman for a long time
this is probably noticeable becuz of 100% dmg reduction counter-attack for swords and only a 50% dmg reduction w/ block for pikes
and yeah, i am just looking for rumors ^_^

Well, slightly better melee/ranged/state defenses, but less toughness and half-as-effective secondary defenses. Maybe it works out to about the same overall.
And about the CURB...don't worry, there are some good pike testers in alpha.

just a personal opinion, we are supposed to be the tanks, the guys u want standing in front of you when the group's being mobbed. So why is our area attack punier than the rifleman's scattershot? Also, I can understand that I lack the speed of the TK's but come the CU if we are to remain the slowest melee (which makes sense considering comparative size of weaponry) shouldn't we have the best rather than the worst block? I am keeping pikie cos it's cool- just is ain't gonna justify myself.But as it makes sense for the tk's to dominate solo meleePvP I would prefer to be the backbone of the group ruck, the guy that the ranged types run to to hide behind. Maybethis could happen withthe highest block and an area move that means ppl who get slapped by us and lose their wound roll find themselves auto-targeting us rather than that quivering pistoleer they were planning on DB'ing. Basically,saving group bacon and taking it on the chin in a similar way to MCM's wounding their minds to save a group member going down under a rifleman's mind fire. Agree/disagree?

Pikes is a crowd control profession. If it wasnt for the fact that most pvpers stack def vs kd/pc/dizzy pikeman (and carbineers which is basically the ranged version of pikes) would be able to control them much more effectively. Imagine walking into a group of like 10 people and then dizzy/kd all of them in 2 hits? now swords does get an AOE dizzy/posture change attack but after being a swordsman for almost 4 months the pc and dizzy stick only 1/4 as much as a pikemans dizzy and kd do.

Dizzy is a lame excuse for a skill and I hope they remove it altogether with the CU. There should be nothing in a game vs other people that you can effectively completely disable someone for any amount of time. I don't know what the devs were smoking when the decided to put it into the game. If anything probably a lack of status effects.
Besides, dizzy or not,IRLI am not going to be lying on the ground unable to get up, I'll be disoriented. So if anything Dizzy should just lower/eliminate the secondary defenses, and maybe cut the speed of attack by 1/4. Or maybe cut the movement speed of the one who is dizzy by half.
As for the Pikeman issue, no one can really say because from what it sounds like they are making a lot of new systems to go along with it. There are going to be (supposedly) active defenses that you can control, there are different kinds of armor/damage (in addition to the normal types, Kinetic Energy ect), lowering armor so that it absorbs a set amount of damage rather than a high percentage, stuff like that.All we can hope for is that they do a better job of balancing out the classes the second time around. No one should be outdamaged by a fistfighter, ever.

i have to say my calling is mpike mdocbut due ti the dizzy fact and getting beaten sensless by NS i dropped part of doc for fencer444x and i must say that i swing my pike much more confidently in a grp of 5-6 ns rangers and kd them all i say pike rules in keeping the mobs at bay but when it comes to pvp pfft unless uve got an +1k lva or some nice action dots health to keep them busy
