My standard answer is Doctor for the plain utility of the class, in every situation.

Why take doc when you can't be hit?


Learn how to use intimidate and dabble up your defence a bit with Tka and fencer skills. The hit the Center of Beeing buttom. now you can solo all monsters ingame except the biggest krayts and nightsister elders. And you can do great in pvp also with the same tactics.

Here's mine... Master Pike/TKM/Brawler.... Fencer 2/4/0/0 .... nov medic w/ first aid 1...


Gets me right up by the +125 cap melee/ranged ... and good kd/posture change def...


and in pvp.. if i need it.. i have tkm as a backup...

i don't think it would be an advantage to do another fighting skill in addition to pikeman. if you do like carbineer, then you're wasting skill points on a totally different profession unless you feel that you just don't want to get in the mix and sit back and pop shots at stuff (which is fine, i don't like to do that).


i fashioned my pikeman class to work well with ch and some medic skills. i have 1404 in ch so i canhave a level 38 tank right beside me taking a lot of the hits (all of them if i work it right) even though as long as i'm buffed, i can handle myself without a pet. i enjoy getting as big as a pet as i can for company. in medic, i have 0030 so i can use stim c's in case i'm in a hunting party and there isn't a medic to make sure i stay alive. it's a lot easier when buffed to do a couple stim c's than a bunch of b's. if there's a real medical profession around then i usually don't have to worry about it, but i like to be able to heal myself in the case i'm not getting healed. plus stim c's work well as petstim b's for pets if i run out of c's or d's.


i think this is the most efficient way for my character. i have a rifle on me if i want to try to draw one thing out at a time but i immediately switch back to the pike once they start coming. i like to be as self sufficient as possible and with everything besides buffs, i am. by the way, if you use my skills as a template, it uses all 255 skill points once you meet master pikeman but i was thinking about possibly dropping some marksman or scout skill for some ch skills.

I have not yet mastered Pikeman but as soo as i do im getting Fencer 4,0,0,0...you get so much melee defense its like having a set of buffs on top of more buffs...and plus i like how fencers swing that Gaffi Stick around like they're uber ^_^

I seconded with CH because the whole tank thing is helpful, especially when your not buffed.

What are some of ur favorite secondary professions after you master pikemen....I just picked up novie pike and was wonder what other profession would go good with pikemen.

Master Brawler is nice it helps with extra Defense Mods, Intimidate 2, and War Cry 2(until they ruined it), and of course Lunge2 20m KD move...


Also Carbiner I imagine would be good, as we target the Action pool, and so do they.


And never can go wrong with Doctor skillz...

im doing master ranger master pikeman.....camo kits r useful cos pikeman isnt the strogest of clases so getting agroed unbuffed is kinda anoying.


also the terrain neg is very useful, and with the burst run effecieny bonuses i can burst run to any long ranger players in PvP.


but it locks up a LOT of skill points being master scout as well, so TKA 4/0/0/0 is useful for powerboost and wound healing


andnovice medic as standard
