Thread: Pikeman accuracy so bad. Is it bug?

I'm a novice pikeman (novice doctor). I was lucky enough to get a vibro lance. I fight Tuskans or mobs on Yavin-4 and I miss 40% of the time... consistently.

With the slow speed of the pikeman, if I miss twice in a row I get no xp in my group because I group with a bounty hunter with a pistol of speed 1.7 and a TKA expert that does crazy dmg.

My accuracy mod is either +60 or +70. Are pikeman SUPPOSED to miss 40% of the time or is it a bug? I've not noticed any other profession missing this often.

I agree, something isn't right. We swing so infrequently, to miss as much as we do is more than painful, it's fatal. I also play a Rifleman and a TKA, neither are anywhere near master level, but both hit far more often than the pikeman, even after factoring that they shoot/swing more often.

Yes, that is one bad thing about Pikeman is, until you really get the +40 accuracy from the support column along with the +10 for being master, you will miss a f'n lot. But once you get master, you will miss about once every 25-30 times, at least that is what it appears to be for me. I don't even notice it most of the time, it is beautiful.

I guess what I still don't understand is the to hit modifiers on the weapons... something like 9/9/9 or -28/-28/-28. What do these numbers mean? And can they be enhanced through experimenting or slicing or both?

Thanks,
Ackale

First off i have to say hello cause i've played with you before... I think you taught me master polearm too.

Now as for the miss thingy i would agree, I think they lowerd are toughness AND accuarcy because we hit harder than most other melee classes. BUT i think they lowerd both WAY to low. Missing isn't as bad for me as toughness is. I'm masterpolearm and if a tuskan every desides to start hitting me than i'm dead like 2 hits... blah

There's a solution to this problem - use a lance til you get some more skills. If it is a bug, it won't get addressed for a long time; pikeman issues aren't a priority cause there aren't enough of us.

The only way I see it getting addressed is if it improves when they fix the schematic for the high end vibro weapons - at this point it's buggy and the weaponsmiths are whining about it plenty.

Greetings from a Novice Pikeman:

Ah, so accuracy does go up as you aquirethose Polearm Accuracy mods? That's good to know because I was getting a bit leary of the profession. I fight along side a TKA quite a bit and we make one hell of a team. I never thought that 2 people could take on a Tusken Warlord and come out on the better side.

My concern for being leary is that he can outdamage me anytime of the day. I've got a decent lance that's 29-251, 2.9 speed and do some decent numbers myself but he outclasses me big time. He does have a few more boxes in TKA than I have in Pikeman, but I keep thinking I should be doing better...maybe I just need more time in the profession to develop my style...

Yes Kurtz, it goes up. My Accuracy # still says -50 when I am fighting a guy, but I will miss about once every 20+ times. So the accuracy has definately improved.

That's one hellova lance Kurtzmann. I think mineis like 20-226 damage with 4.6 speed. I've decided, after usingboth my lance and vibroaxe (84-337 4.8) that I'm going to go back to using my lance because I miss way too much.....like 30-50% of the time. Why should we miss so much compared to other professions? I thought the slower speed was to compensate for our higher damage.....

That's one of Kiranie's (from Chilastra) Lances. She made it right in front of me so those are stock numbers.

I recently picked up at Vibro Lance, but that thing literally kills me to use it. 57 75 32 (I think those are right) on the HAMs. They really need to tone that down. The only time I use that beast is if I'm in a group and have a medic giving me constant heals and the only special I use is the knockdown. For the most part I'm using my regualr Lance as I don't feel the higher damage of my Vibro (59-360 sliced) is worth the HAM costs.

Lowbacca, if you haven't already, get your weapons sliced...it'll make a world of difference.

Unfortunately I apparently lost my lance.....it's not in my safety desposit box or inventory....o well.

Do you know of a good slicer on Chilastra? My long vibro axe hasn't been sliced yet, and it'd be awesome if I could get a slice on the speed.
