Thread: Off to a slow Pikeman start. Any good ideas?
I level pike in 2 days, Get a buff, go to dathomir, Like for baz nitch lairs. Make a macro to do center and spin attack and have some ubese. Stand on the lair and target it and run the spin attack macro so it just repeats spin attack. Wait for about 6 min while animals continue to spawn around you, they will die when they come into range of your spin attack. Just keep lair targeted. After about 10 min of bordom you will have about 80k xp depending on the lair, Move up the speed column in pike first. Once you are at level 4, switch to ancient reptilian flier lairs. Don't waste time running around killing random stuff. Just find lairs, and get about 80k xp each.
When I was working on pike, one day I got lucky and found lair after lair on ancient fliers. I got 900k xp in the time my buffs lasted. which was about 3 hours.
Bagersats have too much kinetic resist for novice pikeman

I suggest defense before offense, but speed is the best first line to do, yes.
But for those of us who aren't holo grinders and play for fun...
For the budget option, go to Theed and do gualama missions. Spin attack the lair, and they should all drop, but if it starts looking sketchy, disengage the lair and just spin attack the gualamas already out then reengage the lair. It's good experience for the effort. That was how I blew my way through novice pikeman in about2-3 hours unbuffed.
I'm now buffing and taking on bloodstained mereks on Endor. 3.9k experience a head... but watch yourself. They occasionaly run and spit at you, but if you play it right, you can shut that down.

Don't you end up destroying the lair allot faster than in six minutes, since it is targeted when you run the macro? Or is there some trick to being on top of the lair that makes it that the lair doesn't take damage? A little confused.

well to tell ya the truth i kindra takes longer cuz when u agro the lair they creatures heal and it takes longer to take it out...so what i do i agro the lair until there is about 75% of it the direct my attention on the creature that has the most HAM then spam spin attack untill i kill all creatures..harvest when done killing them then attack lair till about 50% and get the next batch of cretures and repeat...u will only get 2 set of creatures and it goes alot faster like this....cuz when im done with the creature the lair is at 50% and not 100%
Almost sounds like regular hunting at that point, vs. macro hunting. Just pop the lair, deal with the wave of mobs, harvest, then repeat until no more mobs, then finish the lair. Dont' need a macro for that!

i don't use a macro...that is all me doing it
Thats cool. Its funny, but when I got to Master Pikeman the first time, it was because of hologrinding, but I didn't grind at all, played regular all the way though to Master. Now that I am returning to it, and after having lost all of my Pikeman xp (thats what I get for demonstrating a regular lance to someone), I almost want to macro/grind it back again, just because I walked the path once and am more interested in playing the Master Pikeman vs. taking the journey again from Novice to Master. But it seems like too much trouble to macro/grind, I'll stick to the 'ole fashion' way.
