Thread: Is Pikeman Worth It?

Well that all depends on what you are looking for. if you want a good pvp profession then youll need to learn the DOT lifestyle. If PVE then yes go pikeman. Im sure someone else can give you a more in depth response, but thats the general consensus.

I have a new char and the 1st thing I decided to try on him was Pike skill, Looking at the skill tree it looks pretty good. Also i have not seen many ppl walkin around with a beat stick on my other char (and my biggest annoyance is how everyone and there brother all have the same gear, same armor, same colors).
So it looks good, i have not tried it, and its not overly common; now to the down side... ppl in my guild and ppl i see keep sayin that Pikeman is a waste of time cuz it does not have the insane bonuses to speed and damage that the other brawler types enjoy (namely TKA)... can i get some opions on this from ppl who have been usin pikes for awhile, is it worth it, and is it fun? keep in mind that pvp annoys me nore then entertains..

Try it, its been my favorite combat class by far, and ive tried everyone of them, you wont be winning in PVP without good dots and you may need to spend a few mil on speed tapes, unless you take the new FS melee speed. Overall, its very fun with all the AOE antics, and the attack animations are second to none.

PvP we are weak in without DOT weapons, but since i'm a straight PvE player, I couldn't care less about that.
Now in PvE, Pikeman is amazing. You can stroll across Dathomir and take out Rancor lairs by yourself, for example(don't leave home without armor and buffs). There is really nothing that a Pikeman cannot handle solo, and the speed, while not the greatest, is definitely good. I would go to the Free-for All servers they have setup and make a Master Pikeman character and try it out. I think you'll like it.
And yes, the animations of Pikemen in combat are awesome.

Thats what I did. Made a Master Pikman/Master TKA on the Free-for-All server and pikeman is great. Going to start working on it when I log back into my main.

as the others have said, pike is not a PvP profession ... but PvE is so much fun! ... its great to get down and dirty with what u r fighting ... enjoy

hmmm im speed capped and can hold my own without dot's.. all down to the way u fight, and of course a high powered LVA

If you are going for straight-up PvE, then you will really enjoy pikeman. And when you hit the speed cap with attachments, you will adore it

yeah i see the point, and im already goin up tka... tho i also added pistolerr for the great def bonused, and besides, questing to get ns energy lance, if it is still around, sounds like a mission worth the taking. and besides i have never been much of a PvP.. they tend to get real focused on just one aspect of gameplay, and that just makes ya lose interest, so PvE and tacklin mobs is alotta fun with pike.... u know what they say; 'walk softly and carry a big stick'
