Thread: Nightsister energy lance schematic and 10 vibro units looted on intrepid

The thing circled in the last pic is the electrical aura it has surrounding it when equipped. Yes, it is a double-DoT weaponsmith produced lance. Much like RIS armor, this not only requires the schematic, but also nightsister blade vibro units. So it requires two seperate drops to create, and both are extremely rare.
One problem though, the electrical "aura" goes away after 15-20 seconds and only re-appears after logging or shuttling. Kinda sucks because these are "equip and prance around" weapons. Oh well, even without the electricity I got bombared by tells asking me what it was that I had.
very awesome looking weapon, but a single tear still falls because:
negative range modifiers
high HAM cost
no AP
Why do the developers like making even the looted rare hard to get items have the same bloody problem the rest of our weapons have

What is the certification on a NS energy lance?
Whoever was wielding it in the picture was not certified to use it.
Just wondering.
Evidently thecertification value there is messed up. A non-pikeman equipped one and got the message that he didn't have the skill, whereas when I equip it, I get no such message and get the full damage, but mine still says 'no' on the certification. /shrug

Ok, so if you're technically not certified to use the weapon, is your ability to use the weapon going to be diminished? And if so, is obtaining one of these lances worth it?
Or more so, is using one of these staffs worth it?
You mean "technically not certified" as in, not a pikeman? Yeah, you won't (shouldn't) get the full damage, just like any other weapon you're not certified to use. It's just screwed up, examine a Nightsister lance, you're fully certified to use it like any other basic lance, but because it's a "Nightsister" lance, it says: "Certified: No" but of course, you are...same with these energy lances.
The actual practical useability of these lances is debatable...the energy damage may come in handy for the occasional NPC or creature, but the AP0 is hard to overcome. It's nice in pvp because of the 2 diseases, not good for much besides making people angry, I think.

I should add, I think they're worth whatever effort is put in to get them because they look cool, and simply for the electricity effect itself.

It falls under the vibro lance certification (requires blade vibro units) and it will never say "yes" under the certification. If you don't get the lack of skills message, then you can use it to it's full potential.
I'm a MBH, so it is impossible for me to get vibro lance cert with my current skillset.
