I agree with the origional poster, I have 3 exceptional lances I use, 2 of which have over 100% potency, and 600 dmg poison tick...
Currently I am probably the best PvPer on bloodfin (the pvp server). And I am master pike/doc. Pike is just so dependant upon your equipment unlike some other professions.

Maybe thats the problem now, with all the great loots...stepping us up would help further inbalance things. I fear not the day we are fixed, rather the day our pre-fix NS loot is unequipable.

If we can do all that, I don't see what is broken anymore. Sounds like we're fine to me. If you were any better, you would be overpowered.

You're using a lot of Ironie lately Antares ..
Anyway ...
True and false at the same time ... and that's the damn problem ... While most of the Pikeman population are weaker than the others classes ... some of us are stronger ... if they bring the majority tothe TKM level ... the few people who were already stronger than a TKM will become overpowered...
But now .. how the hell will we fix that ?? The CM nerf will help to balance ... but I'm not sure it will be enough ..
Someone said that Pikeman is the hardest path of Swg while TKM is the easiest .... TKM can be good or even great whitout effort ..... but will never beat a true (rich hehe) Pikeman ... we have more potential

We are broken, but not as bad as most people seem to think. We just need a little more defence and variation in our weapons (damage types, accuracy, speed, etc). Let the weapon we use define what kind of pikeman we are, not our profession tree.

I was unclear in what I meant. I'm referring to the basic availability of the drop, when I mean "Acklay-eqsue".
I'm not only referring to the fact that a Pikeman cannot damage her, but that when Nightsisters begin using the force again, she, along with her entourage, will be nigh invincible. I certainly doubt I'll see posts about a Pikeman soloing Axkva Min, even if the resists were changed, whereas I can go to a certain, unnamed profession forum, and read how they just solo'd the Acklay.
Its risk vs reward, and Pikeman loses out big on this one.

Saying pikemen would be overpowered because you have the best available equipment is like saying all swordsmen are as powerful as one using a legendary power hammer. The class needs fixing, looted weapons should not enter into the equation at all.

Agreed ... but Pikeman get a lot more "uber" weapons than the other class .. that's why it enters the equation anyway

Do we really have more "uber" weapons, though? Many of us as individuals certainly have nice looted weapons, but what of the silent majority? Does this really apply to Pikemen instead of just some pikemen? It's hard to know, but I'm not convinced it does.
I'll grant that polearms (both good ones and bad ones) are the most commonly looted weapon type. I'll also grant that finding a good DoT lance is considerably easier than finding a good DoT weapon in any other class. Finding a non-dot polearm that's dramatically better than crafted ones is quite rare, but still easier for pikemen than anyone else.
But here's the thing. Factoring out DoTs, a well-crafted T21 or power hammer (or for that matter flamethrower or llc) is still superior to the vast majority of even our good looted weapons. They're also easy to get, easy to replace, and have a place in PvE as well as PvP (dots are largely pointless in PvE, of course). Yes, you can get loots that are better than our crafted weapons, but keep in mind our crafted weapons suck.
So in the grand scheme of things, do our looted weapons really have any impact on our ability as a class in the game as a whole? I don't know, but I'm willing to bet that if you average things out across all pikemen and all situations they make very little impact, and almost certainly less than the scythe made on swordsmen.
On an individual basis, of course, it's a very different story. So maybe the devs just fear you
