An in-depth analysis of the Pikeman profession
There are 5 aspects that define a combat profession in Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided. These 5 aspects are:
· Damage
· Defense
· Speed
· Accuracy
· Special Abilities/Skills
A balanced profession would excel in one or more of these aspects, but lack in others. This creates a balance so no profession has everything, which would make that profession overpowered.
I will go over each aspect to get a good idea of where pikeman stand with regards to other professions. Red = the lowest modifier, Blue = the second lowest.
Damage:
Special damage - time
Polearmhit3 - 3.0 - 2.5
2Hit3 4.0 - 3.25
1Hhit3 5.0 - (Information not found)
UnarmedHit3- 4.0 - 3.0
As you can see, Pikeman is the only melee profession to have a x3 damage modifier. This means that we are doing significantly less damage than the professions that have a x4 modifier, especially if those professions have weapons that are equal or higher in damage to ours. We are not efficient damage dealers.
Weapon Damage:
Long Vibro Axe- 110-376
Power Hammers- 138-466
Gaderiffi Baton - 131-222
Vibro Knuckles- 287-396 (Teras Kasi Master)
Accuracy:
Pikeman- 150
Swordsman- 130
Fencer- 150
Teras Kasi- 205
The accuracy mods in the pikeman profession are fairly good. The problem with our accuracy comes from our weapons modifiers, listed below.
Most Common Accuracy Modifiers:
Main weapons:
Long Vibro Axe- -34
Power Hammer - -31
Stun Baton- +6
Vibro Knuckles- +10
Alternate Weapons:
Vibro Lance -11
2H Curved Sword- +13
Gadderfi Stick- -3
In their respective categories, Pikeman weapons have the worst weapon accuracy on average.

Base DPS:
Powerhammer -- [(138+466)/2] / 5.4 = 55.92
Long Vibro Axe -- [(110+376)/2] / 4.4 = 55.22
The Powerhammer has a very slight advantage.
DPS for Hit3:
Powerhammer -- 55.92*4.0/3.25 = 68.82
Long Vibro Axe -- 55.22*3.0/2.5 = 66.26
The advantage increases only slightly.
Note that an LVA is more accurate than a power hammer (slightly better ranged mods as well as higher accuracy mods at Master Pikeman).

As you can see, Pikeman is the only melee profession to have a x3 damage modifier.
It is very important to note that Pikemen also have the lowest delay for their Hit3 attack.

If you go by our fastest weapons instead, about the best we can hope for without a speed slice is a 2.8 speed basic lance. Swordsmen, on the other hand, have the option of using a 2.6 speed AP2 2-handed curved sword. Additionally, the scythe, while a looted schematic, can be both quite fast and high damage.
Our slowest weapon is not the slowest of any melee class, but our fastest weapon is slower than the fastest weapon of any other melee class.
And if we want to bring up looted stuff you're going to have to allow that high damage looted Pike weapons are MUCH more common than loot for other weapons. I've also got a 30% sliced NS Vibro Unit LVA that would give my Scythe a good run for its money.
I'm not trying to be argumentative. You know well I've always strongly suupported Pikemen.
