Thread: which box first?

Hello, I'm a 0001 novice pikeman and I was wondering which line I should go up first.

I'm thinking of doing defense techniques because you get many more mods than the others (like block and center of being), but I'm guessing the speed is just as (if not more) important.

If someone could help I'd appreciate it!

The one with sweep 1. It provides good bonuses.

Hi, I am a 1-1-0-1 Pikewoman and I love polearm sweep. Especially in a group, I run up to the enemy, knock them down with sweep, then warcry on them to keep em down a bit longer. Then everybody just goes to town! I learned that trick from Master Pikeman Nnod here on Sunrunner. Of course, he is a master and was using warcry 2 (brawler) and a different knockdown, I think.

I went the defensive way with 0-0-4-2, then I ran 4-0-4-3 and then the master title.. took a bit longer, but it was a good choice I think.. God how I hate bazNitches now...

ppl seem to tend to want stances first though, cause we all know the more speed the faster u kill and the faster you gain exp.

I think that most people go up defensive first, then offensive, then the second tree. Since the fourth tree is combat xp, just train that as you get it. The defensive line is pretty important, as you're going to be tanking quite a bit.

I am a 4-1-4-3 Pikeman

Get Defense 1 and then Stances 1-4, Defense 2-4, then go oline.

although I found Leg Hit 2 useful for high end mobs I would not suggest getting offense 1 early like i did.

i am 4/1/4/3 and defense mods are great...and area sweep rocks..i would recomend going through entire defense line...then entire stances. Offense will only be nice for leghit3...other wise thats what i did or am doing

I agree with the thinking that you need to get Sweep1, and then hammer out the stances. The speed improvements are definitely worth every point of xp. Then defense, then offense. No brainer...

wow lots of mis information here this is the best way and I can back it up I've leveled master pike twice.

0-2-0-0 first for area 1

then go speed boxes we have crap defense anyway but this way you can AE Hurtons for about 20k of xp every 15 minutes. Also you want to get some ubese kinetic armor it is far better on your ham and when I say this I mean your mind pool since most people get buffs.

Note this after you get 0-2-0-0 you want to get the speed boxes so you have a much higher dps. Then work on getting the 4 in offense so you get AE 2 and the rest is history. Dont believe anyone if they say get sweep it is a 1 hit then on a timer and doesnt do nearly the dps of ae 2. Get used to AE 2 since its our bread and butter move and get yourself a lvling Doc. Until SOE gets their act together fixing what they started and quit adding pointless new means of travel your defense is to kite and spam lunge until you get some ground then burst. KD doesn't work good till you get the AE version anyway. I offten wonder since we can pull all the aggro off a pet or someone else why we are so low in toughness and bonuses to resist.

Thanks SOE for fixing our range now its time to fix our defense. Lower our ham cost and change a vibro lance to blast damage. Electricity is the most common layer component in composite these days next to heat and acid. This will also let us be usefull against turets and other faction perks like at-st. The new HAM system needs a big delay until you lower HAM cost. I have a wonderful Vibro Axe to bad I feel like a carbineer. So I have adopted the same motto as them " I can kill me before you kill me". You dont want us to have to spam specials then redue our equiptment so we dont have to. BTW what happened to player made being better than drops? Look at the HAM cost on these drops compared to Master Weaponcrafter with the best materials and I mean the best.

Picked up jedi yesterday and I can now qualify for Basic Healing 1. I was wondering what the thoughts are on which tree to spend xp first.
