Thread: Pikeman + what? = best melee PVP powerhouse
You can still use a Vibro Lance and I think every other pike weapon that might be useful.
You get Intimadate, Improved warcry and improbed Stun.
Plus Advanced Crictal strike, improved power attack, and advanced armour break from Msword, which are just great moves, beating out impale and legsweep hands down.
But I like TKM so i don't have to worry about what armour I need, nor how much it is decaying.
Plus it is just so nice to wear the outfit you want and kick butt.
I was Mbrawler-TKM-MPike-Swords 0030 and it was a heavy hitter, but It wasnt a good PVP template vs anyone who could heal.
I was bringing other toons close to incap easily since the template did heavy dmg but, they would heal and keep whittling me down. Since you can only use a stim-d every minute (cant be bother to always have the cooldown timer food buff) it was always a losing battle. I tried respec'ing to TKM-MPike-Doc 4000 and its awesome, you get 3-4 good heals and I can sustain myself in any fight. The downside was I lost my terrain negociation and advanced armor break.
I think overall, swordsman is just a better melee profession, but I like the pike weapons, and the relative rarity of pikemen so I chose to stick with it.
When fighting a player or dueling, lock onto them with FOLLOW before you fight. This way you can keep your mind on attacks/heal/burst run without trying to chase anyone down with movement confusion.
When mobbed by NPC's or creatures, just activate Bacta Infusion and keep moving. Agro will break and you will remain healed.
We may lose advanced armor break like you said, but when your a healing machine that dosent need to spend money on armor, its all good.
Get some speed CA's and a good pike, you'll inflict good damage.
Good luck!

I can usually stand quite some time vs. any melee, including jedi, but I am having a hard time fighting ranged kiters.
Usually I have to wait (and heal) until root wears off, burstrun to them and try to beat em. This is where the problem starts. I can stop them from running using Knockdown, they tend to have Knockdown recovery and it takes only a little while until they are up on their feet and start running again. Any way to keep close to them (besides burstrun food, which I use)?
Template is:
Master Pike
TKM
4000 Doc
yea this is a big problem if your out in the open, but if your in the city be sure to use the terrain to your advantage, make them come to you in an inclosed area and dont allow them to kite, if they wont come, then dont fight...

I agree, but it just so happens the outfit I want to kick butt in is full silver RIS.
