Thread: I'm posting the message I so hate: Fast ways to get pikemen xp?
Anyone wanna share some tips on fast Pikeman xp? I'm new to melee professions (yes, a holo-pikemen.) I saw someone saying they could take down 8 pickets at once and mastered pikeman in 8 days. That's the kinda tip I'm looking for, and I'll definitely be trying my luck against them with the aoe spin attack. So far I've been doing imperial 8k imperial missionsand killing force mobs using my maulers as primary tanks (I'm a master ch). I get about 3500 from a force kill, but it takes a long time. I probably get about 1000 to 1500 from each mob at an imperial destroy mission, it takes about as long asa force mob and totals about 6000 to 8000 xp. This is for about 4 or5 minutes of fighting I think. Anyone have recommendations for faster xp than this? Right now I'm still (0-0-0-2), so I'm a newb... but my tanks add to my effectiveness. Also, anyone have any recommendations on which skills to work first?

Well there you go.
Pikets give about 3500-4000 xp per kill.
They give large amounts of herbivore meat that you can sell to medics.
I don't knwo but shouldn'twe be able to hunt without a pet???? just me but i thought we were suppose to be tough...
...you are not alone

AS far as spice, I love and I hate it. The stat boosts rock, the downers suck and can happen at just the wrong time, lol.
Composite rocks, but takes to much abuse doing pikeman, and even the best composite has a worse encumberance vs. protection ratio regarding kenetic then the average kenetic ubeese.
To make sure you don't get surprised by a sudden spicedowner, create a Macro to give you a message when the time is closing in.
The choice of armor should be made by what type of fighting you will be doing. If you prefer pure melee fights, then go for ubese. Do you often attack mobs that tend to kite you, or even attack both melee and ranged, you should go for the all over protection that composite gives. Personally I use a variety of combinations of armortypes: Comp, Chitin, Ubese, BEClothes and sometimes padded.
Braglor, what are the BE clothing items I should be looking for? Anything really good in the shirt variety that I can wear with my armor?

AS a BH (prior profession) it was uber composite with spice and a PSG. The fights were quick and fierce (refering to marks and dark troopers)
Pikeman is no where near the same. Combat it about kiting melee mobs, at leat for me. I do not use spice, I've replaced it with stat food. I do not use a PSG, wasted money. I do not use weapon power-ups, as I did with BH. My armor started out as Ubese, after I destroyed my 1 mil cred set of BH armor, it has changed a bit. My armor is all about kenetic and low ham hits. It's mostly ubeese, with some composite and chitn mixed in. BTW, slice included, my pike armor cost about 38K and yields 60-80% kinetic protection for moderate ham hits. I use VL only and mostly hunt picketts.
I have become a pikeman, I no longer even carry my ranged weapons.
Oh, BTW, I'm a master scout and have discovered that traps are the best tool I have as a pikeman. Consider, melee def down, slow, stun and poision. Hmmm, not bad at all. My master scout terrain neg is the key to how I kite. I also used it alot in NH, and Marksman, and CH, and .... Hint, get all of terrain neg.
