Pikeman Archive
Thread: Pikemen, what are your secondary professions?
Novice Pikeman - Looking forward to my first novice pikeman skill in the sweep later on today.
First Responder, Field Stabilizer, Stimpack Chemist - In other words, after I get Diagnostics IV i'll be master medic.
Then i'll be moving on to DOCTOR...
IMO, I really don't think I could survive without being able to heal myself. As far as doctor goes, I can't wait to heal myself even more effectively.
Any other pikemen medics?
I just started grinding out medic, and guys it is definately worth it. myself...
Im a Novice Pikeman FINALLY
Scout Exp III, hunting II almost III, surival I, trapping nada
Medic, First Aid III, Daignostics II, Chem II, and the other one I forgot what it was was II
Im a rifle Specilist and up to Expert ranged support, and I can learn learn spec but Im saving Combat XP for pikeman support.
thats me
Master Brawler -intimidate2 is thebest tankingskill in the game, lunge2 is vital for brawler PVP, and berserk2 is a great way to dish out damageif you're in a big group wheredoing special moves is not that important
Master Medic - being able to heal yourself for 800+ points of health and action at the cost of 70 mind is a good thing
Scout - Exploration IV because it's a must have at least until speeders turn out, and Hunting IIfor the creature to-hit bonus and because theres nothing better to put those couple points in
Going to have to give up Explore IV to finish up master pikeman, but oh well.
I already had to sacrifice novice weaponsmith, master artisan and the entire artisan tree to make room for medic and pikeman skills =p
I'm a Pikeman/Chef/Marksmen and a lil bit of scout, so i can have stuff to cook with. But at the end of it all I'll be Pikeman/Chef/Scout.

Honestly tho, i want to be a Bio-engineer and CH to support myself, with polearms so i can defend myself (I hate those blasters,) then throw in a little medic to heal me and mine.
Alright. I've looked at the skill trees and have found which skills compliment the pikeman skills the best. Go with RIFLEMAN!!! With the counter sniping tactics branch (or what ever it is called) you can add +20 more block to the 20 block you get with the defensive branch for pikeman. When I reach master pikeman I am going for just that single branch in the rifleman skill tree only for the added block. Instead of blocking 20% of attacks, you'ld be able to block 40%.
No matter what combat proffession you do, there should be a ranged proffession that compliments it. Just look for one that adds themore skill modpointsto your already existing ones.
My guild is and always has been heavily PVP centric (EQ RZ and DAOC) and keeping with form we are the same way in SWG (Ahazi) my personal choice knowiing that PVP favors ranged battle in SWGbut close quarters battles are in the favor of those able to incap, and/or debilitate thier opponents with massive and lethal hits played a very large role in my selection of skills. These issues coulpled with what I feel are certain very important skill mods for pvp in SWG formed the basis of my skill trees, that and there are so many interesting professions I decided to go the "jack of all trades"route:
Pikeman: Defensive IV (AE knockdown) + high skill mods
Pistoleer: Defensive stances and grips IV + high skill mods (on the premise" "feel free to kite me while I stop shot you for 950 damage")
Marksman: Pistol IV
Brawler Ploearm IV
Scout: Exploration IV, Hunting IV
Artisan: Business III, Survey I ( I dont craft, but I sell resoruces, ie I like credits just to lazy to craft....LOL)
Medic: Organic Chem IV (cant beat a self healing tank, I agree with the above posters, the medic base profession is a MUST have for any pikeman) Diagnostics I (speeds up healing nicely)
Bio Engineer: Not sure where Ill go with this, need to play with this profession some more, cloning seems like it will be fun)
Creature Handler: Just starting with this, will probably fill Taming IV and Management I (picked this up along with BE because I do ALOT of exploration and soloing)
I dont plan on mastering any particular profession, unless something really appeals to me, but I like the option of bieng versatile and having the ability to easily master a profession should I choose to at a later date, not to mention that this template has/is allowing me to be highly self sufficient on very hostile planets. I'm not done with this template by any means, but I'm very close....
