It seems like everything with decent level (~80) has a way unamanagable HAM and takes on the order of 2 minutes or more to kill. that said, what can one kill nowadays to get any decent XP, or is it all about the group XP now?

Go to a mission terminal and take lvl 80 missions. You'll find the mobs have lower ham than the ones you'll find in the wild. For example an enraged rancor in the wild is a lvl 80 elite with 17k health compared to 7k health from a lvl 80 elite enraged rancor spawned from a mission.

This is a SOE product.

This is EQ in Space and follows the same tenets. No group, No playing.

You need a group!!

No soloing for anyone anymore.

And they did this at a time when most ppl left in disgust.

I am soloing just fine. Grouping is easier, but continuing to claim that soloing isn't possible is not defensible. Lots of us are doing it and it's not that hard.

yeah take missions from terminals you will get XP no problem,,,, but for example If I take bol missions out of dantooine, (which I suggest since they dont swarm) I can get like 5500 XP per kill if Im in a group of 8 people doing bol missions,,, super fast and you only need to hit the target once for full XP,,, I get 7200 XP per target,,,, so you can see why most people do group hunts,,,

They go super fast with 8 people hitting the target and the missions and creatures fly by as well as the XP,,,, I got 800k pike XP,,, around 700k swords xp and capped out my combat xp and got around 90k doctor xp last night in about a 2 and a half hour hunt not bad for the new system

It is true that you can solo, but group hunting is much quicker if you're looking for xp. I found that hunting lv80 bols in groups on Dantooine is a great way for xp these days, i easily gained 1mil xp in a few hours.....the Bols are great because they dont attack in groups, so u can pull one to the group and then tear it down. This works solo too if you are strong enough! enjoy

Lets see ...

1) Spend 20-30 minutes looking for a group

2) When you find a group, hope they aren't full of morons who don't know what they're doing

3) Spend another 20-30 minutes on bugged missions

4) Once at a working mission, pull one - hit once then repeat (refer to step #2 and hope someone doesn't use an area attack and aggro the entire lair).

5) Watch ranged take out the critter before you (melee) can get a hit in. Then get that lovely message "-TOO FAR-" when you're inside of the target

6) Refer to # 3

7) Try not to fall asleep from the extreme boredom

I'm not a big CU fan, but i've been open-mined enough to give it a try. I will say, however, grinding XP is easier (perhaps more boring) than pre-CU.

IMO the above are not bugs/issues according to the devs ...it's working as intended because the more time you invest in activities, the more money SOE ends up getting from you.

why the hell do people fronwn on grouping so much!? soloing is so boring, just point and kill at leadst with groups theres a sense of strategy and teamwork. not to mention people to talk anmd interact with while you get xp.

one of the reasons i quit 3 months ago was because soloing was so boring. now with groups i dont mind grinding because of people around me to talk to and joke with. sure i cant solo macro a lair likebefore but now im leeling fast and haviung great fun.

and you can solo it ried it to se and it worked. but poopy to solo!

I have gotten exp two ways:

Solo, take the missions from the mission terminal. Learn to pull one critter from the lair at a time killit. Rinse and repeat. If you have a combat droid this works really well. Set him on one while you take out the other.

For grouping, its basically the same but much quicker. Also if you ahve a group with many different profession specialties (Tanks, Crowd control, Damage dealer) you can rool through pretty fast. I would also suggets doing the mydderyl cave quests on Kashyyyk. With a well put together grouyp that has healers and at least one or two level 80's you can run through most of the Brain Bugs there no problem and because they are "elite" critter you get fantastic exp. Do not get me wrong, you need healers, tanks and crowd control to make it work and you need at least a group of 4 to even consider it. But the exp is fantastic.

The group incentive XP is nice. I have never disputed that. But for people who are antisocial in nature (like me), who just want to grind in peace without having to worry about stupid sh!t, it's more difficult to do the group thing. I do solo, and i'm not complaining about that.

And before the onslaught of replies stating MMOs are for grouping ..blah blah blah, that's BS. Not everyone likes to group.
