Just set your title to something other than image designer. If you set your title to novice marksman or novice brawler you probably won't get many, if any, tells.

Or you could say sure - if you help me get a level in pistol first...

Set yourself anonymous and change your title while hunting. Even with a title change, the find feature will still display you if searched for by profession (not title.) On the other hand, if you're anonymous, no problems—at least as long as they don't already know you by name. I guess you could also set up an AFK message saying something like "I'm sorry, but I'm currently unavailable for image design work. Please send me an email and I'll get back to you once I'm done in the field." or something like that. Anyway, I think a combat secondary is just fine for an image designer—personally, I'm shooting for Master Image Designer/Master Tailor/Trickshot…let me tell you, those pistol skills really come in handy when I'm not paying attention and walk right through a highwayman camp

I have it stated in my bio that if I am not wearing my master ID title, I am not currently doing image design. As for other professions, I have master ID and master dancer, and a handful of pistoleer. I am right now getting master entertainer, just to add to my list of mastered professions, because all I needed was the musician tree. After I get that, I will drop musician again and start dropping dancer to get Teras Kasi Master. It's my holocron profession, but I'm frankly looking forward to it. It's a seriously uber combat profession, and I will be excited to be of use to my guild in PvP again. LOL

Something that goes very well with being an image designer - doctor. It's TONS of fun to do, you can make decent money doing buffs, and being able to revive is a highly prized skill, especially if you're factioned and do PvP at all. I would eventually like to master doctor, but it sucks up SO many skill points... I don't know if I could. But getting the two middle bars get you uber buffs and let you revive people. It's fun.

If you prefer a ranged combat class, I'd stick to pistoleer. Carbine is best when it's paired with the carbine tree of bounty hunter, and rifleman is only SERIOUSLY great at master. Then again, if it's your plan to master a combat profession, you might consider trying rifleman. They're a seriously hurty profession at master, and they have a ranged deathblow, which is just awesome. Pistoleer is best if you plan to dabble.

I am only novice pikeman right now but i'm finding my medic skills do help me tank better for the group. What i mean by this is i run in get everything on me and just keep myself healed while using my spin attack. Meanwhile the rest of the group finishes everything off.

I am doing Master Pikeman / Master Doc because I need to be buffed to be able to use any specials in combat.

To me though, Doc is really boring to get through. I am just now returning after a 5 month hiatis (sp?) and it seems like nobody needs wounds healed. Since everyone is fighting with buffs and high-end armor, it is rare to see people with wounds.

I miss Ranger, my very first master profession.

I am now master doc/pikeman 2012 Seems master doc is the way to go. Especially for pvp, apply dots and heal your own. Plus with master doc you can drop health and action and boost the crap out of your mind stat.

I would say if you plan on doing pvp Master Pike, Master rifle, and some amout of medic would be fantastic. If you want to stick to mainly pve I would go doc pike ina heartbeat, if you happen upon an energy lance I don't think there is anything in the game you can't do damage to, but that may be wrong. Although I have found the block with rifle and pike make you block atleast 2/3 the time which is great to have, I am still doing my "pike and me" research, we'll see though

OK, I screwed up on my first posting, perhaps this will be better.

As a new player and now Master Pikeman (yay for me!) I am trying to figure out what profession(s) I should start working on next. Are there any professions that go well with pikeman?

I have given some thought to doctor so I can do my own buffs instead of having to look for someone to pay for them all the time, but that seems like an awful lot of work and points just for buffs...

Other than that, I really have no idea. How about some suggestions from you folks that have been playing since SWG came out?

Help a clueless newb become a newb with a clue!

I am doing pikeman/master swordsman/ranger tracking 3.. The reason being... When I go to kill something high level while solo... I want to target one pool. The mind. Pikeman lets me hit at a decent speed until I can get my NS lance with double DOT Mind Poison/healthdisease..then I stick them with my Double dot Mind Poison Janta knife.. then switch over to my gammorean axe for a bit of mind disease...then i switch over to my scythe and do head hit 2 then head hit 1.... Even though the devs said they all shouldn't stack... they do. check it out. Massive Dots to the mind.
