Thread: i plan...
i too made the "uber" pike template but regardless of all the stacked melee and ranged defenses i didnt see much difference in PvP. PvE showed a drastic imporvement however and if i had some sunburns and a shot of muon i could wage war with the best of mobs. My template was as follows
master pikeman, master brawler, 0304 tera kasi, 4220 or 4210 fencer cant remeber, a tad of medic
Im not sure thats entirely accurate on the fencer part due to so many changes i made in the build but its the basics.
Now like i said even with some pretty nice melee, ranged and status defenses PvP wasnt much of an option in my opinion. I had a friend (TKM) help me out with a few tests. Even with these defenses and such our basic flaws in pikeman still hold true and pretty much exclude us from PvPing effeciently, even as a purist brawler multiple elite proffesioned, stacked defenses and all. Something isnt right there.
The one great thing i noticed about it was the "defense acuity" mod in the tk line. when i started leveling this up i defenitly saw a difference in the ratio of counterattack...errr... block.. whatever we have. I would have my friend auto-attack for about 10 - 15 hits and the ratio stayed pretty close to blocking ever 3rd to 4th hit from a TKM. Not too shabby, just imagine what we could do if the block itself was working properly.
i am going back to this build soon in hopes that the upcoming combat changes will make pikeman a reasonably balanced proffesion who can hold there own.
I think this time i will opt for the Power Boost line in TK to save some cash on Sunburns hehe.
Basically, a (very) poor mans version of a Tka, without the meditation... and the defense mods... and the toughness... oh, and without the dizzy being part of the same move.... and ofcourse, alot less damage...
Did I miss anything? Ooops, I'm a pikeman, of course I missed

No really, I had the same thought too. I'm in no way a stat hound or any good at compiling numbers like some others are *cough*Antares*cough*. But I was wondering if one were to master brawling and then attain novice in the other 3 melee profs and get master in each profs defensive tree ....
- would the mods all stack or only be good with that weapon equipped?
- would we be 'uber' enough to tackle pvp?
Can someone with a better head for stats and figures tell me if this is so. If it is, this may be worth dropping my doctor skills for.
I can tell you from experience, getting the defensive lines from all brawler elites works great in pvp and in pve. I've seen people with the end-all melee setup defeat the entire imperial outpost, NPCs, PCs and all, completely by themselves...
Yes, melee/ranged and state defenses will stack. Toughness and choice of block/counterattack/dodge depend on weapon equipped.
Master Brawler (77), Master Pikeman (63), Novice Fencer/Swordsman/TKA (6 each) and the Defensive lines in each (14 each) = 200 skill points.
Add in Meditation line = 14 skill points.
Add in Swordsman mind bleeds 1 & 2 = 12 skill points.
= 226 skill points, 24 left to use.
With this setup, you will have:
181 melee defense / 154 ranged defense
defense vs. blind: 70
defense vs. dizzy: 105
defense vs. KD: 105
defense vs. PC: 110
defense vs. stun: 75
defense vs. intimidate: 40
PLUS Level 4 meditate (healing wounds/bleeds/poisons, I believe) and 2 mind bleeds.
With this setup, you'll be extremely tough in PvE or PvP if you use good tactics. This is the Pikeman-centered Ultimate Brawler, you can change it around to center around any of the others, which will change the amount of extra skill points you have.
antares
master pikeman
ah yes the state defenses do help lots but i was mainly talking about the melee/ranged def. i have lots and dont notice it helping in pvp too much.
he speaks the truth

Anyone seeing a trend here? about skillpoint investiture?
