Thread: My Dot Stacking Bug Investigation, Could you check it Gunman please ?
Dot Stacking is a Huge problemfor the PvP Pikeman (Yes we exist !!), some Dots stack together, some do not ... I'm a MPike for a long time nowand I check this board dailybut I've seen really few infos about this bug ... So I decided to inspect it myself .. Since I'm an Hardcore PvP player (even though I'ma MPike/MCarb lol) this bug bother me a lot ...
Here's a couple of tests I did to find the Dot Stacking Bug (or maybe intended restriction) Rule... I first tested my Mind Dots (for obvious PvP reasons ...)
1) Vibro Lance
Mind Poison:
strength: 235
Duration: 109s
Potency: 60%
2) Vibro Lance
Mind Poison:
strength: 253
Duration: 117s
Potency: 72%
3) NS Lance
Mind Poison:
strength: 286
Duration: 198s
Potency: 100%
4) Metal Staff
Mind Fire:
strength: 111
Duration: 138s
Potency: 42%
1 + 2 = Success
1 + 3 = Success
2 + 3 = only 3) ticks
2 + 1 = Success
3 + 1 = Success
3 + 2 = only 3) ticks
1 + 2 + 3 = only 1) and 3) ticks
2 + 3 + 1 = only1) and 3) ticks
4+ 3 + 1 = only 1) and 3) ticks
4 + 1 = Both stick but only 1) ticks
4 + 2 = Success
4 + 3 = Success
2 + 4 = Success
4 +1 + 3 = They all stick but only 1) and 3) ticks (No fire)
Group #1
Group #2
My Conlusion, Dots are divised in difference group and only 1 dot of a groupwill tick... obviously 1)/4) are from one group and 2)/3) are from another. So I can only stack one dot of group #1 with one dot of group #2, if I try to stack 2 dots of group #1 only the stronger ticks.
Dots order do not seem to change the result ...
Dots Types do not seem to change the result ... (I'm not sure about disease though ... haven't tried it)
I have also done some other tests with 2 other fire Lances
5) NS Lance
Health Fire
Strength: 284
Duration 128s
Potency: 61%
6) Vibro Lance
Action Fire
Strength 266
Duration: 165s
Potency: 46%
4 + 5 + 6 = Success
3 + 4 + 5 + 6 = Only 3), 4) and 5) ticks
1 + 4 + 5 + 6 = Only 1), 5) and 6) ticks
2 + 4 + 5 + 6 = Only 4), 5) and 6) ticks
Group #1
Group #2
Group #3
Ok ... so:
Group #1:
1) *This one has the priority*
Mind Poison:
strength: 235
Duration: 109s
Potency: 60%
4)
Mind Fire:
strength: 111
Duration: 138s
Potency: 42%
Group #2
2)
Mind Poison:
strength: 253
Duration: 117s
Potency: 72%
3) *This one has the priority*
Mind Poison:
strength: 286
Duration: 198s
Potency: 100%
6)
Action Fire
Strength 266
Duration: 165s
Potency: 46%
Group #3
5) *This one has the priority* (duh...)
Health Fire
Strength: 284
Duration 128s
Potency: 61%
Strength/Duration/Potency or even the "hidden" weapon evaluation could decide which weapon in a "group" has the priority ... my tests do not really help me for that ...
But the real question is ... how can we know which dot goes in which group (i.e. Before buying a lance) ... I though it would be the strength ... if you only check group #1 and group #2 it would sound good ... but check group #3 ... make no sens ...
So I guess the group is determined by the Weapons "Hidden" Evaluation (Like the Tags Exceptionnal or Legendary are).
I hope these infos will be helpful to all our Community ... and, Gunman, if you could ask a Dev to confirm/explain this I'm sureit would help us a lot ... it could even be one of our questions =P

I think they will say the fact that some DoTs on the same pool are stacking at all is a bug.

You could always stack more than 1 dot of the same type is has not changed, however there is a bug SEPERATE ISSUE where some dots wont stack with eachother...
Ie a mind poison and a mind fire from 2 specific lances will not stack... THIS IS A BUG.
Stacking dots of the same type on the same pool was supposed to have been stopped a few publishes ago, when the changes were made to bleeds...

hmm, I was under the impression that you weren't supposed to be able to stack 2 bleeds on the same bar, or 2 poisons, etc. but I thought being able to stack a bleed+poison+disease+fire was ok since they are all different. Although I'd have no problems with them changing it, finally stop that annoying bug where a CM can incap you with mind poison/disease.
Hey Gunman, could you also have the Devs look at the fact that a failed repaired weapon at 1/1 condition still sticks the DoT's? This seems like a bug to me. It effectively makes it so the weapon has infinite condition.
