I saw one up for sale and as usual itsold for some rediculous amount I cant afford, is this a quest item or loot?

Yes you can get it. It is part of the Lord Cyssc Quest and the Blackscale compound

First speak with the human in the wook armor in the Rryatt trails (when you enter he stands on the right side), after that do the missions for the guy whos standing besides the human in wook armor, after that goto the great tree cantina and speek with the wook dancer.
After a while and a few difficult missions you earn the dam good staff (PuPed 800mod DPS)

That DPS is *very* misleading, in fact, the pikeis almost exactly the same "true DPS" puped or unpuped. The only change was speed, not the dmg which is a true indicator of, well, damage. Now the speed is set to .88 you will never be able to utilize and its damage output has remained the same. I have a 313 DPS unpupd lance that would mop the floor with this thing as the max dmg is over 100 points higher. Try adding a dmg pup at the cost of speed (33% dmg +10% to speed) and that will make it much better.

Yes, I have said many times that DPS is not the key factor when looking for a weapon, it is merely a calculation between speed and damage. A Dmg powerup would indeed make the weapon far more effective for dealing more damage over the same amount of time, a SAC powerup makes your action efficiency a lot better by allowing you to use specials for longer thus dealing more damage. And since that pike has only a 85 SAC, add a SAC powerup (30%) and you would have a pretty good dmg pike with a attack cost of only 59.5ish.

anyone else have the problem with the escape pod guy despawning when u get there? do i have to kill the lvl 82 elite tamed spiders? or does he retreat somwhere else to where ive gotta find him? if so whats the wp? im having a hell of a time doing this solo
