And if they don't fix pike when they nerf buffs, were all skrewed. This profession will die.

I remember when everyone PvPed unbuffed too...that was fun.
I can only speak for melee, as hate leveling ranged professions, but from my experiences (I've been them all) things are in this order (without looted weapons).
PvE
---
1) Swordsman/Pikeman (all just down to resists on which one is best which mob)
2) TK (we easily out damage them)
3) Fencers (lol, seriously I had masters wanting to drop the profession once they've seen a pikeman in PvE).
PvP
---
1) Fencers (does anyone hit them?)
Everyone else is about even in PvP (melee wise and without looted weapons). You just have to play against the other professions weaknesses and not just stand (rooted) spamming the same special no matter what. The only profession I have problems with in PvP is Fencer, everyone else is balanced on tactics. Unbuffed PvP is simply down to who lands a KD/Dizzy/Intimidate/Stun combination first, which is lame no matter what profession you are. Wear amour and unless an exploited (intentional or not) bugged special (unarmed combo 2 & one handed scatter hit 2) isn't used TK's (and fencers even) don't do a great deal of damage. Fencers have the advantage because they are near impossible to hit, which usually results in ham burn out more than them actually doing the damage (not just a pikeman issue). The only thing that we do need is to hit the speed cap, but we aren't the only profession with that issue...swordsmen too. Which considering we are both the best in PvE, I see as a payoff. If you find one of your stats is a weakness, migrate it to be stronger!! So you will find if anything is broken in PvP, its some specials with in the TK and Fencer trees, which pretty much ignore armour and other defences.

come on, you've been around long enough to remember before everyone and their mom ran around unbuffed....the game was actaully challenging then....

Aren't they doing away with the ability to buff secondaries? I think I read that somewhere. If that's the case, Chef's and Smuggler'swill be making a LOT more money on food and spice. I don't guess it really matters to me if they do nerf buffs...as long as the devs fix our HAM issues when they do.
From what I read (if I remember correctly) they are just going to reduce the effectiveness of buffs in general. Maybe just bring them in line with entertainer buffs, where the buff just doubles (at master) your stats. Who knows, it probably won't work as intended anyway. Fixes are just vapourware these days.
Well, along these lines I dueled a buddy of mine today, I am a master pike since day one playing, and i am a 3,2,3,4 fencer..
He is a TKM, pistoleer, with no armor on...and i was using 500 dam axes and DOT lances on him...and switching to stun baton and ganderfini (sp?) baton...
After looking back at the combat log...(after i got dropped) he even told me that i should just put the pikes away after theDOT hitand use the fencer weapons because i was hitting him for "24, 30, 35..." points of damage each hit with my axe!! With the Fencer weapons I was doing about a "100" or so per hit...and they are generic weapons that cost about 40k ...nothing special...
Something is definitely hosed with PIKE when you just flat out cannot damage a player in combat. One is forced to hit with DOT and then switch to Fencer weapons to keep up... just my thoughts... I think it is a disgrace and embarrasing for pikemen.
I refuse to accept that an unarmed person can do more damage than a master wielding an axe...
