Ol'val...and a hearty Hiya...

I'm a businessman interested in the flow of the profession here on SS and was wondering if I might get some feedback on the whole shabang from you all.

How's the feedback from your audiences?

Is the Profession all you were hoping?

Are you happy with the venues you've been playing in lately or still searching for that perfect place?

How's the RP where you play, if you're getting it from other bands/beings and from the audience?

Lemme know kiddies! It's a special interest to me of late and I'm all about your feedback. Especially from all of you old-timers like me...been in since launch kinda people. You help me and just maybe I can help you.

  • How's the feedback from your audiences?

Extremely variable. I'm very reactive, not active, so I only give as much as I get from my patrons. If they talk, I talk. (I can talk the hind legs off a brackaset if you get me started.) I'd say maybe 20% of my patrons actually try to talk to me. The rest just use me for healing or mind enhancement and move on. Usually AFK during the process, which sure as hell doesn't encourage me to stay at my keyboard.

  • Is the Profession all you were hoping?

Hell no. But then, I think I'm in it for things that most aren't. I'm a healer at heart, but I like to do things in a non-standard way, so I picked the Entertainment route, versus the Medical. I'd like to see Entertainers operate in similar ways to Medics, just with a different focus (mind and fatigue vs. health and action). Until that happens, I'm not getting all of what I wanted out of it. That being said, I've mastered Entertainer three times (that's just with my main...I love the mandoviol, but there are so many other things I want to do with those points....), Dancer twice (again, with the same toon),have been an Entertainer since beta, and went back to Musician after dropping all Entertainer 'cause I missed it. So there's something in it that I just can't stay away from. But I'm not satisfied that the professions that come off Novice Entertainer are all that they could be.

  • Are you happy with the venues you've been playing in lately or still searching for that perfect place?

I play wherever I am. I also acquired a mastery in a combat profession so I can get away from the cantinas, so often I play near where I'mgoing to be hunting from while I wait for friends to join me. For quite some time I played in my hometown's cantina, but the really long stretches of interminable boredom, interspersed with 10 minute conversations during healing/enhancing a neighbor who stopped in, just didn't cut it for me. And you just can't carry on a conversation in the spamfest that is the Coronet or Theed cantinas, which are the only places you're guaranteed to find patrons. So it's a lose/lose situation -- either you go somewhere where the volume of customers is low enough that no one bothers setting up a spamming macrobot and are bored, or you go somewhere where people are guaranteed to be and can't talk to them over the 'noise,' and most of them are AFK anyway so they don't have to put up with the spam.

  • How's the RP where you play, if you're getting it from other bands/beings and from the audience?

Again, I'm reactive on this. If someone starts off a conversation in RP mode, I go along with it. I try to stay in character in spatial, but all bets are off in group/guild/tell chat. Hard as it is to carry on conversations in the Coronet Cantina, I've managed to make some great friends through RP while I was grinding away at Musician or Dancer. But that's such a rare occurrence that it's happened...hmm...four or five times since launch?

I wasn't sure what you wanted from your post...did that help?

Tarot!

I am mostly in agreement with Tarot here, but I will give you the full report Capt!

  • How's the feedback from your audiences?

Audiences tend to be a bit empty...I've been to a few good parties where there is great comments and reactions from the audience but for the majority of time I play in the public Cantinas I always seem to be a little under-appreciated. A lot of times in the Cantina I'll try to strike up conversations and I'll just kind of be ignored by the continuous AFK and the audience just tends to not respond. My most common question is something along the lines of "So what brings you to the Cantina today?" And almost every answer has been, "Getting my mind and BF healed of course." And then no talk for 10 minutes....

  • Is the Profession all you were hoping?

It was at first, in the very beginning I was having a blast at every turn.It was great, I was just partying in the Cantinas having great conversations with everyone, but things slowly kind of drawled off into AFK, and the lack of decent musicians around to practice with. And now everything is a bit repetitive seeing as it's all solo playing...I guess I find it a bit lonely because the profession has just been bad when I'm alone, but then throw me in a party and I remember why I love it so much.

  • Are you happy with the venues you've been playing in lately or still searching for that perfect place?

No....I don't want to rant about empty Cantinas, and AFK-stuffed ones. Just want to point out that back in the beginning it was fine. Even the hotels on Rori had an entertainer or two...

  • How's the RP where you play, if you're getting it from other bands/beings and from the audience?

It all depends on the group I'm with. I've gone to a couple of gigs where the audience is great in terms of RP and so is the band. But in general it seems that Starsider Cantinas are just kind of filled with the non-RP bimbos looking for buffs. Just seems that in general Starsider players have lost that RP feeling, I know I forget it a lot, but I always love to talk with someone in a complete RP moment. It just happens that it's a very rare chance when it happens.
