I would assume all 20 people in my group are also doiung a flourish but I dont think that effects me at all. Everyone has to flourish.. I dont think this is related to this issue
You are probably getting hit with the /change bug. If you are stopped for any reason ...say someone does a /change to a song you cannot play or you run out of action or whatever...and then a /change is done to a song you can play you will be in that state....playing....but not playing.
If I remember correctly, ifyou have a /startmusic (songname) in your macro that should start you into either the group song or into whatever song is specified and should allow for normal flourishes again.

Flourishes and bandflourishes are not the same thing. Flourishes cause you to do a flourish (let's say flourish 8). If you do a /bandflourish it will cause everyone in the band to do the same flourish. This sounds really really cool.
If people in your group are doing /bandflourishes, then they are overriding your normalflourishes so that you all will flourish in sync. This is a useful tool when you want to all play as a band in a performance. The annoying thing is that when you're trying to get xp, if someone is doing /bandflourishes you will be "flourished" but you won't get any xp for it. It will override your current flourish and it will say that you can't do another flourish.
If someone is doing bandflourishes, you will see that pop up on your screen as well, "so and so does a band flourish" or something to that effect, and then if you're flourishing it will be followed by "you must wait to perform a flourish".
Make sure you type /bandflo off,that will makeyou not accept bandflourishes,and see if that solves the problem.
