I am a Master Dancer switching to musician (just started musician today). I have always had a speed buff that lasts exactly 2 mins for use when I can't get a quicknessbuff or foodbut can get a medic to heal me as I buff. It still seems to be working fine for me as a dancer. My question was whether speed buffs work the same for a musician as for a dancer? Can I assume from this that they do?

Sorry for the double post, I submitted accidentally and am such a lurker I don't know how to edit.

Guess it would help if I posted the buff macro. Make a cycling macro that does 2 flourishes followed by a 2 second pause. You can then run this for 2 minutes and /dump.

To make it easier for me, I made a macro in four parts. For the first part, I typed out:

/setp

/flo 1

/flo 1

/pause 2

/flo 2

/flo 2

/pause 2 (etcetera)

For a total of 25 flourishes. At the end, I linked to the next macro with /macro 2minpart2. Then I pasted the text (minus /setp) into another macro and linked to a third macro. At the end of the 4th macro, I say Complete. This is easier for me than having to time the buff, though I'm sure you clever people probably have thought up easier ways to do this. I've tested this macro as a dancer and it still works fine. I assume it will also work for musicians. Hope this is helpful!

amkhaibitu, my understanding is that the new rules don't affect any buff that already took at least two minutes to perform. If you buffed in 3 minutes before the patch, you still will now. That's what the devs seem to have in mind, anyway; who knows if it's really working that way. I'm lousy at testing my own buffage. Your comments suggest it is working.

Right, I didn't express that clearly. I used the 30 second dance buff before the patch. I also had a 2 minute version, which I detailed above. The 2 (not 3) minute version still works for me as a dancer, and gives a full 2 hour buff (I have tested this multiple times today). I cannot yet buff as a musician, as I have just started switching professions, but I assume it will work the same way if the 30 second buff also worked for musicians. So, since there is now a 2 minute rule, the buff I detailed above is the shortest possible full buff. Hope that makes more sense.

Well I shall try your method, however I have been unable to deliver complete 2 hour buffs in less than 3 min 10- seconds with my method. Mine is 5 flos every 8 seconds, yours is10 flos every 8...if they all go through. I did a test with a basic version of your macro and only got 60 flos in 120 seconds, comperable to mine.

I'll try some test and see.....My tests though tend tobe exact timing. I /setperf to start the time and move to stop playing to stop the clock. Are your 2 minute ones also to this tolerance...or is 2 mins aproximate?

Heh. Well, I had used the buff several times today, but it occured to me that I haven't timed it since it was written, so I just went back and timed it... and it's 3:10. D'oh!

Back to the drawing board. Thanks for calling me on that, I'll time before I type next time.

OK....not necessarily good for ppl who wanted the 30 sec ones, but good that I am not losing my mind.

I just tried giving and receiving in 2 minutes ...I gave 1 Hr 12 min on your macro and received 1 hr 1 minute on a similar macro.

If this:

"I guess I might as well /cancelaccount my buff bot now"

would be the reaction by many due to the changes done, I
fully applaud this patch!
Well but thats just me, I _hate_ buffbots.
