Not sure if this belongs in the musician thread or the droid engineer thread, but I'll start it here because I believe you guys might like this idea a bit more.

My basic idea is a new market for musicians to make money in. Imagine if you will, a droid which records one of the songs that a musician or band performs. The owner of this droid pays the bad whatever money they charge for this option. Then mr. droidowner goes to his local home and sets the droid up in a corner of his room and turns it on. This droid then plays the pre recorded song for the next 1-2 weeks, depending upon the quality of the droid. Then it must be taken back for reprogramming(recording the song again).

Basically, shops need theme music =). How much more interested in shopping would you be, if you walked into a mall that was playing your favorite song? Or maybe you just want a soft soothing melody at your house while your redocorating?

Not only would droid engineers profit from this, but also musicians would profit.

i know u can load music tracks onto droids in this new publish but i dont think u can put the lyrics on them.

also not sure how many instruments at a time can go intoa track.

i havent had a chance to experiment with it yet.

The base concept is a great "what if", however it is not practical with the current.....very new ...droids.

Well if you have 6 modules in it, you can load it with 6 instrument/song track combinations. So in 6 modules, you can prerecord 6 songs on Mandoviol, or recordany songon 6 different instruments (well technically wouldn't want to...so maybe 2 songs on 3 different instruments)

You can only play 1 track at a time. So only 1 instrument at a time.

The droid will only play the "vamp" of the instrument/song combination unless someone is feeding it bandflourishes.

The droid will run out of power fairly fast. I haven't timed it, but I've gone through 2x 4 battery stacks today alone.

The only person who can start or stop the droid is the owner, and the owner must be novice musician to do so.

No lyrics can be added via the music module, possibly a merchant "barker" module?

As much as you know I LOVE Jawa Revolution, a singing barker module would just get annoying and add spam/lag. I think this Muzak Droid idea is GREAT, tho, and would love a "Radio module"... Imagine a stationary K-Eck radio droid in the Star port of your choice... :-)

this seems to have gotten off topic =).

No one else think that theme music when you walk into an establishment would be interesting?

won't work, as far as I can tell the only way to hear the music is to be grouped with the droid while it is playing.

The best us of the droids is to have them playing music and blasting out lights and fog while you are tring to sneak up on a rancor to steal it's dna.

Um, unless I am mistaken, I do not believe the idea of a "radio droid" is based on what we can currently do, but an idea for an update? I think it would be a pretty cool thing to add. I know when you go into certain guild halls and cantinas there is music in the background. If the "radio droids" could be incorporated in that form I think it would be great.

theres a better way to put it...yes... Radio droid essentially...ooh that opens up even MORE possiblities. Screw recording the sound tracks...give musicians RADIO booths =)...or something similar...let them broadcast their song on a channel through out the whole planet. The channel can be determined by the location, as well as possibly how far it reaches out on that planet. Then we could TUNE in droids or even just simply radios placed within our houses and shops to hear whats currently being played. Now there should be NO healing applied from this music, it would simply be background music.

Great post, keep the idea rolling, maybe Devs will see it and like it =)

Personally I would love this idea, even if it means we have to actually target the droid. I don't personally own a shop. But, I would love to see the option of musicians being able to record music and selling it to people who might want to use it for one reason or another. One of the main reasons I tend to hang out at some of the more popular cantinas despite the spam and annoyances, etc., is because I like to listen to the ingame music. I would be much more apt to go to some of the lesser entertainer populated cantinas if I had some music to dance to. I don't really like dancing in the Cantinas in silence. Preferably I'd love just to have more musicians around. But, it'd also be nice to support a musician by buying his product to dance to.
