AFK musicians are a dead horse. Won't beat that. The final straw was some rock playing idiot who would not stop begging for tips. He said a pure musician only earned money via tips. 30 seconds later asks to be trained Musician 2. I ask how much is he going to tip for training? He wants it for free. Told him I couldn't: muscians live by tips. You know the rest. Meh. Always wanted to be a bounty hunter. Me and my non-tip Ubese armour set will prolly go that way.

yes they are annoying, but what alot of them do not realise is that people hate been asked for the tips... i tend to get more tips if you do not ask and if someone else is asking the people will probably tip the ones that aren't.
let them give you alot of there tips if you want

I do hate people begging for tips and I do not ask for anything when playing or when I tran them in a skill that would haev cost them 6k even though I dont need any Training Exp's
I wish I could live exclusvly by tips alone but alas I think that will never be 
but I wont let beggers or a few broken instruments stop me
I think very soon we will see some super stuff for us musicians and I want o be ready when it comes
I haev been playing computr games ever since there were computer games I have playtested over a dozen games and I have never seen a company listen to the players more than SOE is with SWG
were not asking for the impossible and I think SOE knos they can make us happy with little effort
SWG was a big investment more so than any other game (thank lucas for that) and they want this to be the best longest last game ever and are trying
So give it up if you want but I know that soon we will have some great stuff adn it will be the profession that is the most fun!

All things considered, we lose more musicians because of a lack of any affect they have on the world. We heal battlefatigue and mind damage. Mostly BF though. And only in cantinas. There is a limit to this, and with the amount of skill points devoted to worthless skill trees, we end up on the short end of the stick. It is probably why I'm going to surrender my MM, Tech tree, and both healing trees. A real shame, now all I have to do is get drunk so I can actually push the surrender button. /sigh

Well, defintely looked like he changed his tune when the slitherhorn was in the other nostril, didn't he? And I'm apparently too slow to know the rest: did he end up tipping, or did he just throw a hissy fit? From your post it sounds like the second option (although I don't want to make any rash assumptions), but is there any chance you were able to get a screenshot of said hissy fit so we may point and laugh?
I think it makes all entertainers, dancers, and musicians look bad when one person asks for tips. I've seen some people get real creative though. The creative ones are the only ones that don't bother me. My favorite is the mouse droids name. I thought about getting one just so I can name it (Starving-Musician)... 
As for my skill points being spent in ME and MM, I will not sell those back (unless they put the mando and ceremonial back into musician) no matter how bad it gets.
I've made a great living on tips alone. I make 3 - 5 K a day just playing music. Some of my best tips have not even been in a cantina. I figure I'm an entertainer right? If I'm the cantina and nothing is going on and I want some interaction I head over to the local star port and start rocking for the people waiting for the transport. People don't expect it and since you are not healing them they don't feel pressure of any kind to tip. I never ask for tips or heals I just play. In fact most of the time I just nod at players who come up to listen to me play. How the heck is a person supposed to be blowing on a kloo horn and talking at the same time ? I try to play the same song for about 5 - 10 minutes then stop and say a few words. After that I start up a different song.
People like entertainers who are creative with the tools they have. Keep the faith out there and know that you can make it on tips alone if you try hard enough. Music is alive and well and hopefully will just keep getting better!
I too make a pretty good living on just tips. I make several thousand credits a day, usually by playing a smaller cantina in a very small group or even solo. I role-play a lot when I perform, drawing on my rebel ties and my flask of whiskey; these things bring me for more tips than any begging ever would. I never beg.
By the way, gambling offers hope for those of us who'd like a change of scenery. I performed in hotels several times today, drawing in gamblers who needed to work off some BF. It was fun.
