what cities have theaters? also what cities have nobles that give out gigs? I am a wookie and I have tried Mos Eisley and Keren and the non trainer entertainers won't talk to me...do I have to be on a faction?

I don't know if he'll do it EVERY time, but the one time I talked to a twi'lek named Scarere (a thug) inside the Lucky Despot, he gave me a gig mission. It was to Mos Tieka, or something like that, and they have no shuttleport access, so I aborted the mission and didn't check back with him. He's not on "thug" faction - he apparently works for Lady Valarian (although I'm not sure he's on her faction either).

I've actually had a gig assigned to me by an Imp on Tatooine (Lowca). I accepted it, and got to the location. The mission read, (paraphrased) "Go to these coordinates and play inspiring music for anyone there." I got to the location, and the waypoint was directly in front of some sort of house, or noble place. I played at the exact waypoint for a while, and tried inside the building as well.

Never got any confirmation that the mission was complete, or anything like that, so I finally aborted the mission. Very frustrating.

There are some other threads regarding gigs, try searching for those if I don't cover all the details you want.

Not all cities have theaters, to find the ones on your planet that do, go to the planetary map (default ctrl-v), and go to the location tree on right Guild Halls -> Theater. Once you're in town, use /find to get a waypoint to the theater.

To get the gig, go to the nobles that are always standing next to the musician or dancer trainer (depending on whether you want a music or dance gig). Accept the mission and they'll give you a waypoint for the performance. If you don't want to travel, you can abort the mission with (I believe) no penalty and ask for another one. Do this until you get a gig where you want. You can use the planetary map to check the city the location is in, too. You also occasionally get gigs from other random npcs.

Now that you've got a gig, follow the waypoint. This will show up at the entrance of the building you have to perform in. Go inside (very important), find a good spot, and perform away. The mission completion is dependent on your dance/music level. The way it seems to work is that you have to accumulate a certain amount of xp at that location, so pull out your flourishes. I'm at the level 2 row of the musician proffession, and the gigs take me about5 minutes of steady flourishes. At lower levels it could take up to 9 or 10. Also, it seems that the performance has to be donewith no stops. So if you're running out of action, try getting some action/quickness buff food (I've found Caf and Air Cake work well), or find a smuggler and buy some Shadowpaw. That spice gives +250 to action and quickness for 10 minutes, which should allow even a low-action character to complete a mission.

Gig missions do work. When you accept one go inside the building with the waypoint in front, begin playing and continue playing until you get paid. The important thing is that you must gain a certain amount of xp from a single session, changing songs or stopping and starting again will start the count over.

I would recomend getting two missions to the same place. Missions 25m from the terminal will be just inside the cantina and pay the same as missions across the planet. Playing will pay for both within about 10 seconds of each other as the xp earned is counted concurrently.

You will still be dead broke trying to earn money this way, but it does work.
